Apricot mustard baked chicken is a delicious and healthy recipe that everyone can enjoy. This recipe is known for its tangy and sweet flavor, making it a perfect choice for dinner or lunch. If you are planning to make this recipe, then there are some valuable tips that you should keep in mind to get the best results. In this article, we will discuss some of the tips that you can follow to make a perfect apricot mustard baked chicken dish.

Tip 1: Choose the Right Chicken Pieces

The first and most important tip when making apricot mustard baked chicken is to choose the right chicken pieces. You can use either chicken breasts or chicken thighs for this recipe. However, chicken thighs are preferred as they are more juicy and flavorful than chicken breasts. Additionally, they are less likely to dry out when baked, which is crucial for this recipe.

Tip 2: Marinate the Chicken

The key to a flavorful apricot mustard baked chicken is to marinate the chicken. The marinade will infuse the chicken with flavor, and ensure that it is moist and tender once baked. To marinate the chicken, you can combine apricot jam, Dijon mustard, olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix the ingredients well and then add the chicken pieces to marinate. Make sure that the chicken pieces are completely coated in the marinade before covering the bowl and setting it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.

Tip 3: Choose the Right Oven Temperature

When baking your apricot mustard baked chicken, it is important to choose the right oven temperature. Preheat your oven to 375°F before placing the chicken in the oven. This temperature will ensure that the chicken is cooked through while remaining juicy and tender, without overcooking it and causing it to dry out.

Tip 4: Baste the Chicken

Basting the chicken is an important step when making apricot mustard baked chicken. Basting will help to keep the chicken moist and juicy while it bakes. To baste your chicken, use a basting brush to coat the chicken with the marinade every 10-15 minutes. This will help to infuse the chicken with flavor and keep it moist as it bakes.

Tip 5: Check the Internal Temperature of the Chicken

To ensure that your apricot mustard baked chicken is cooked through, check the internal temperature of the chicken using a meat thermometer. Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken, making sure to avoid the bone. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F. If it does not, return the chicken to the oven and continue baking until it reaches the correct temperature.

Tip 6: Let the Chicken Rest

Once your apricot mustard baked chicken is done, it is important to let it rest for a few minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the chicken, keeping it moist and tender. Cover the chicken with foil and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.

Tip 7: Serve with the Right Sides

To make the most of your apricot mustard baked chicken, be sure to serve it with the right sides. Some great options include roasted vegetables, rice, or a side salad. The choice of sides will depend on your personal preference and the occasion.
