PAULA DEEN'S APPLESAUCE CAKE

Paula Deen's Applesauce Cake image

I needed to use up some applesauce so I tried this recipe from Christmas with Paula Deen. I did sift my ingredients, but I didn't grate my own fresh nutmeg (there's a kitchen gadget to put on my list). I used real butter instead of shortening. The house smells delicious, and this is great with vanilla ice cream!

Valuable Tips When Making Applesauce Sour Cream Pound Cake Recipes

Applesauce sour cream pound cake is a delectable dessert that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you are planning a tea party or just want to satisfy your sweet tooth, this recipe is sure to please. However, making applesauce sour cream pound cake requires some skill and techniques. Here are some valuable tips to keep in mind when making this yummy recipe.
Tip #1: Use Good-Quality Ingredients
The quality of the ingredients that you use can make or break your applesauce sour cream pound cake recipe. It is essential to use fresh and high-quality ingredients to achieve the best results. Choose unsalted butter, fresh eggs, and pure vanilla extract. Also, make sure that your sour cream and applesauce are fresh and not expired.
Tip #2: Preheat Your Oven
Preheating your oven is crucial to ensure that your applesauce sour cream pound cake rises well and cooks evenly. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) before you start preparing your batter. This will help your cake to bake evenly and prevent it from sinking in the middle.
Tip #3: Measure Ingredients Carefully
Measuring your ingredients accurately is essential when making applesauce sour cream pound cake. Use measuring cups and spoons to ensure that you add the right amount of ingredients. Adding too much flour or sugar can make your cake dry or too sweet, while too little can make your cake dense and soggy.
Tip #4: Cream Your Butter and Sugar
Creaming your butter and sugar is the first step to making a light and fluffy cake. Use a hand mixer or a stand mixer to beat your butter and sugar until they are light and creamy. This process incorporates air into the mixture and makes it fluffy, which is essential for the texture of your cake.
Tip #5: Add Your Eggs One at A Time
Adding your eggs one at a time helps to ensure that your batter stays smooth and emulsified. It is essential to beat your batter well after each egg is added to incorporate it fully. This will also help your cake to rise properly.
Tip #6: Alternate Your Dry and Wet Ingredients
Alternate adding your dry and wet ingredients to your batter to prevent it from becoming too dense. Start with adding a third of your dry ingredients, followed by half of your wet ingredients, then another third of your dry ingredients, and the rest of your wet ingredients. Finally, add the remaining dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Tip #7: Do Not Overmix Your Batter
Overmixing your batter can cause your cake to become tough and rubbery. Mix your batter until just combined, and there are no visible lumps or streaks. Overmixing can also cause your cake to collapse or sink in the middle.
Tip #8: Grease Your Cake Pan Thoroughly
Greasing your cake pan thoroughly is essential to prevent your cake from sticking to the pan. Use butter or cooking spray to grease your cake pan and dust it with flour. This will help your cake to release easily from the pan.
Tip #9: Allow Your Cake to Cool Before Serving
Allowing your cake to cool before serving is essential to prevent it from falling apart. Let your cake cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before removing it from the pan. Then, allow it to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
Tip #10: Store Your Cake Properly
Properly storing your applesauce sour cream pound cake can help to keep it fresh for longer. Wrap your cake in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days. Alternatively, you can also freeze your cake for up to 2-3 months. In Conclusion Making applesauce sour cream pound cake is not rocket science, but it requires some skills and techniques. By following these valuable tips, you can create a delectable and fluffy cake that is sure to impress. Remember to use high-quality ingredients, preheat your oven, measure your ingredients carefully, cream your butter and sugar, alternate your dry and wet ingredients, do not overmix your batter, grease your cake pan thoroughly, allow your cake to cool before serving, and store your cake properly. Happy baking!
