OATMEAL APPLESAUCE COOKIES
In 2005 I had back surgery. My Mom came for a week to watch the kids/take care of the house. She made these for the boys and they devoured them she said. I don't know how many these make. I know at least 3 dozen - so that is the amount I will put. Okay - I have tried at least 2 different times to edit this recipe on the directions. More than one person has wanted to make it so I will finish the directions here! :) Basically - mix all ingredients very well in large bowl. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 11 minutes. If you like them crunchy - let them bake a bit longer. Enjoy!

They are a perfect choice for anyone who is looking for a healthy and easy-to-make dessert or snack, and they are also great for those who are trying to incorporate more fruits into their diet. When it comes to making applesauce cookies, there are several tips that you should keep in mind to ensure that your cookies turn out perfectly every time. In this article, we will discuss some valuable tips that you should follow when making applesauce cookies recipes.
Tips for Making Applesauce Cookies
1. Use unsweetened applesauce
One of the key ingredients in any applesauce cookie recipe is, of course, applesauce. When selecting applesauce for your cookie recipe, it is important to select unsweetened applesauce. This will ensure that your cookies are not overly sweet and that you are getting the health benefits of the apples without adding extra sugar.
2. Use whole wheat flour
Another important ingredient in applesauce cookies is the flour that you use. To make your cookies healthier and more filling, it is recommended that you use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour. This will give your cookies a nuttier flavor and provide more fiber that will keep you feeling full for longer.
3. Use natural sweeteners instead of refined sugars
To make your applesauce cookies even healthier, you should avoid using refined sugars whenever possible. Instead, try using natural sweeteners like maple syrup, honey or coconut sugar. These natural sweeteners are healthier and they offer more flavor to your cookies.
4. Add nuts for texture and flavor
Adding nuts to your applesauce cookie recipe is a great way to add texture and flavor to your cookies. Walnuts or pecans are particularly delicious in applesauce cookies, but you can also try almonds or cashews for a different flavor profile.
5. Use spices to add flavor
Spices are another important ingredient in applesauce cookies that give them their delicious flavor. Cinnamon is a classic spice that is often used in apple desserts, but you could also try adding nutmeg, allspice, or cloves for a unique twist on the recipe.
6. Let the dough chill before baking
For best results, it is recommended that you let your applesauce cookie dough chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the dough to become firm and hold its shape better during baking.
7. Watch the baking time carefully
Applesauce cookies can be easy to overcook or undercook, so it is important to watch the baking time carefully. Baking times can vary depending on the size and thickness of your cookies, so it's best to check them frequently while baking to ensure they do not overcook.
8. Store the cookies properly
Once your applesauce cookies have cooled, it is important to store them properly to keep them fresh. To do this, place them in an airtight container and keep them at room temperature for up to a week. Alternatively, you can store your cookies in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Conclusion
In conclusion, making delicious and healthy applesauce cookies is easy when you follow these tips. Use unsweetened applesauce, whole wheat flour, natural sweeteners, nuts, and spices to add flavor and texture to your cookies. Let the dough chill before baking and watch the baking time carefully for perfect results. Finally, store your cookies properly to keep them fresh and enjoy them as a healthy and delicious snack anytime.
