Time 1h10m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent rolls
½ cup white sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
¼ cup crushed walnuts
1 Golden Delicious apple, diced
1 cup butter, softened
1 ½ cups white sugar
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle caffeinated citrus-flavored soda (such as Mountain Dew®)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Roll 1 can of crescent rolls out on a cutting board. Make one single piece of dough by rolling the dough with a rolling pin to a 9x13-inch rectangle; make sure the seams don't separate. Repeat with remaining can of crescent rolls. Set 1 dough sheet atop the other to make a double crust.
  • Mix 1/2 cup white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, crushed walnuts, and diced apples in a bowl. Sprinkle evenly over the dough.
  • Roll the dough lengthwise, so you end up with a long tube. Cut into 1-inch slices. Place the rolls into prepared dish facing up.
  • Melt butter with 1 1/2 cup white sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until sugar dissolves completely, about 5 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and whisk citrus-flavored soda into the butter mixture; pour over cinnamon rolls.
  • Bake in preheated oven until golden brown and no longer doughy in the middle, about 30 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly, 5 to 10 minutes. Flip the rolls out of the baking dish onto baking sheet and allow the sticky sauce to drip over the rolls.

Yield 4 people

Number Of Ingredients 13

stick of butter
1 cup of sugar
1.5 cups of flour (sifted, self-rising)
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 egg
1 tablespoon of sour cream
2 tablespoons of water
For the filling:
3-4 apples
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 tablespoon of sugar
½ cup of chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • The dough: Cut 1 stick of butter (or shred), mix it with 1 cup of sugar and mash the butter with a fork or knife until it will turn into butter crumbs. Add 1 cup of flour, mix very well with butter and sugar. In a cup mix: 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of water +1 tablespoon of sour cream. Pour into the butter-sugar-flour mixture and knead the dough. The dough will be very tender and fragile. Form out of the dough two balls and put the dough into the freezer for 10 minutes. Filling: Wash, peel and chop the apples into the midsized chunks, add sugar, cinnamon and walnuts. Set aside. Forming the rolls: Take out the dough. Take one ball and gently (!) roll it out with the dough roller. Don't press too hard this dough is fragile. Cut the dough layer into two halves. (This will be your two big rolls that you will cut into the small bite size rolls) on one half of the dough put the apple filling. Put not too much of the filling and put it in a row. Then roll the layer with filling in and cut into the small bite size rolls crosswise. Put the small rolls roses on a baking dish 4-5 inches away from each other as they will become bigger while baking. Repeat the same procedure with the second half of your rolled out dough and with the second ball of dough. ***Tip from Helen*** I used for the second dough ball cream cheese filling. The filling is very simple to make ¾ of a cream cheese pack and 2-3 tablespoons of sugar mixed. When you mux the cream cheese and sugar spread it on each dough layer and roll it in as I wrote before. The rest of the procedure is the same.*** I honestly can't decide which rolls are more delicious: with apples and cinnamon and walnuts or with cream cheese. So bake the two versions usually. It's very delicious, simple and warm fall dessert. Enjoy!

Valuable Tips for Making Apple Walnut Cinnamon Rolls Recipes

Cinnamon rolls are a delicious treat that are perfect for breakfast or dessert. They are made with a sweet dough and filled with cinnamon sugar and other tasty ingredients. Apple Walnut Cinnamon Rolls take the classic cinnamon roll and add a twist of sweet apples and crunchy walnuts. Here are some valuable tips to keep in mind when making this delicious recipe.
Use Fresh Apples
When making apple walnut cinnamon rolls, it is important to use fresh apples to ensure the best possible flavor. Use crisp, tart apples such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best results. Peel and dice the apples into small pieces, and be sure to remove any seeds or stems. Adding fresh apples to your cinnamon rolls will give them a sweet, fruity taste that complements the cinnamon and walnuts perfectly.
Toast the Walnuts
Toasting the walnuts before adding them to your cinnamon rolls can bring out their flavor and make them even more delicious. Simply spread the chopped walnuts out on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes until they are fragrant and lightly browned. Be sure to cool them before using in your recipe. Toasting the walnuts can add a nutty, crunchy texture to your cinnamon rolls that perfectly balances the soft, fluffy dough and sweet apples.
Measure Ingredients Carefully
When making any recipe, it is important to measure your ingredients carefully to ensure the best results. Use measuring cups and spoons to accurately measure flour, sugar, cinnamon, and other ingredients. Proper measuring can also help prevent the dough from being too dry or too sticky, which can affect the texture and rise of your cinnamon rolls. When measuring flour, be sure to spoon it into the measuring cup and level it off with a knife, rather than packing it down. This will help ensure that your dough is not too dense.
Let the Dough Rise
Letting the dough rise is an important step when making any yeast-based recipe, including cinnamon rolls. After mixing and kneading the dough, place it in a warm, draft-free area to allow it to double in size. This can take anywhere from 1-2 hours, depending on the temperature of the room. Patience is key during this step! Allowing the dough to rise will make it light, fluffy, and easier to roll out into cinnamon rolls.
Roll the Dough Evenly
When it comes time to roll out your dough, it is important to roll it out evenly to create uniform cinnamon rolls. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough out into a rectangle shape about 1/4 inch thick. If the dough is too thin, the rolls will be too dense, and if it is too thick, they will not bake properly. Be sure to flour your rolling surface and rolling pin to prevent sticking. Take your time and roll the dough out carefully to ensure the best possible result.
Use a Sharp Knife to Cut the Rolls
When cutting your cinnamon rolls, use a sharp knife to prevent squishing or tearing the dough. A serrated knife can work well for this. Cut the rolled-out dough into 12-14 equal pieces, about 1 inch thick. Place the rolls in a baking dish that has been greased or lined with parchment paper, leaving a bit of space between them to allow them to rise and expand during baking.
Add the Toppings Last
When making apple walnut cinnamon rolls, it is best to add the toppings, such as the chopped apples and walnuts, after rolling the dough into the cinnamon rolls. This will help prevent them from falling out or getting too messy during the rolling process. Sprinkle the apples and walnuts over the rolled-out cinnamon sugar mixture, then gently press them into the dough. This will help ensure that they are evenly distributed throughout the rolls and baked into the dough.
Bake Until Golden Brown
Bake your apple walnut cinnamon rolls until they are golden brown and cooked all the way through. This can take anywhere from 20-25 minutes, depending on the size of your rolls and the temperature of your oven. Check them periodically to ensure they are not burning or getting too dark on top. Once they are done, remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before drizzling with glaze or frosting.
Experiment with Flavors
One of the best things about making cinnamon rolls is the endless possibilities for experimentation! Try adding different spices, fruits, or nuts to your cinnamon rolls to create unique flavor combinations. For example, try adding chopped pecans instead of walnuts, or swap out the apples for pears or peaches. The possibilities are endless, so get creative and have fun in the kitchen! In conclusion, making apple walnut cinnamon rolls can be a fun and delicious way to enjoy a classic recipe with a twist. By following these valuable tips, you can ensure that your cinnamon rolls turn out soft, fluffy, and packed with flavor. Enjoy them fresh out of the oven with a cup of coffee or tea for the ultimate treat!
