APPLE SPICE SNACK CAKE
This cake is sooo simple and really very good. It's very moist...I made it two days ago and it's still very moist. It might be good with a little whipped cream or some ice cream, but it's very good all by itself! I got this recipe from Taste of Home's "44 Meals Under $10". It was submitted by Reba Savoie.

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare your baking pan by greasing it with butter or oil and dusting it with flour to prevent sticking.

In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
4. Mix in the wet ingredients
Add the applesauce and vanilla and mix until well combined.
5. Add the dry ingredients
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in 2 batches, mixing until just combined after each addition.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Variations
If you want to switch up the flavors of your apple spice snack cake, try adding some of these variations:
Nuts
Add a little crunch to your cake by adding chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
Chai spices
For a twist on the classic recipe, try adding a chai spice blend instead of the traditional spices. Mix together 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon ground ginger, 1/2 tablespoon ground cardamom, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, and 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper.
Caramel
Drizzle your cake with some homemade caramel sauce for a sweet and decadent treat. Simply melt 1/2 cup granulated sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown, then whisk in 1/4 cup unsalted butter and 1/4 cup heavy cream until smooth.
Serving and Storing
This apple spice snack cake is best served warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
