The choice of apples is crucial when making apple sausage pancakes. You should choose a variety that has a firm texture and is slightly tart, such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith. Avoid using super sweet apples; otherwise, the pancakes may end up being too sweet.Cook the Sausage Properly
Cooking the sausage appropriately is also essential when making apple sausage pancakes. You want the sausage to be fully cooked through, but you don't want it to be dry and rubbery. Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until it's browned on all sides. Then transfer it to a plate lined with paper towels to remove any excess grease.Prepare the Pancake Batter
The perfect apple sausage pancake recipe starts with the perfect pancake batter. To prepare the pancake batter, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, milk, and egg in a large bowl. The batter should be thick, but pourable. If it's too thick, add a little more milk to thin it out.Chunky Apples for Texture
When making apple sausage pancakes, it's essential to use chunky apples to add texture to the pancakes. Cut the apples into small, bite-sized pieces and mix them into the pancake batter. Be sure not to over-mix the batter as this may cause the apples to break down and become mushy.Cooking the Pancakes
To cook the apple sausage pancakes, heat a skillet over medium heat and spray it with cooking spray. Spoon some pancake batter onto the skillet and spread it out into a circle. Cook the pancake for about 2-3 minutes or until bubbles form on the surface. Flip the pancake over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until cooked through.Serving Suggestions
