Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 can of a good brand of apple pie filling.
2 large white tortillas
dusting of powdered sugar
light sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg
vanilla or carmel delight ice cream if desired

Steps:

  • 1. Take one tortilla and lay it flat on a small cutting board. Spoon the apple pie filling onto the tortilla to within a half inch from the edge of the tortilla. Put the second tortilla on top of the first one, like a sandwich.
  • 2. Heat up your quesadilla maker and slide the apple quesadilla onto the griddle and close the lid and cook for 5 minutes. If you don't have a quesadilla maker, you can melt a little butter in a large skillet, not too much, over medium heat and slide the quesadilla into the skillet and brown, then carefully flip the quesadilla and brown the other side. Remove hot quesadilla to the cutting board. Cut the quesadilla in 6 pieces, and dust with powdered sugar, and lightly sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg. Serve hot with or without ice cream. Enjoy!

CREAM CHEESE APPLE PIE QUESADILLA

Cream Cheese Apple Pie Quesadilla image

This is so good! The cream cheese melts into the apple pie filling, and tastes almost custardy. I usually use wheat tortillas and light cream cheese because that's what we have in the house.

In this article, we will explore the history of the apple pie quesadilla, the ingredients that make this dish special, and how to make this delicious dessert at home.

History of Apple Pie Quesadillas

The origin of the apple pie quesadilla is not entirely clear. Some food historians believe that this sweet and savory pastry has roots in Mexico, where quesadillas have been a popular food item for centuries. Others suggest that this recipe is a fusion of two classic American desserts: apple pie and quesadillas. Regardless of its origins, the apple pie quesadilla has become a favorite dessert for many who enjoy the combination of savory and sweet flavors.

Ingredients of Apple Pie Quesadillas

The key ingredients in apple pie quesadillas are apples and flour tortillas. Other important ingredients include butter, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla extract. These ingredients are used to create a delicious filling that is placed inside of the tortillas. The tortillas are then cooked until they are crispy and golden brown, giving the dish a satisfying crunch. Depending on the recipe, other ingredients, such as cream cheese, caramel, or honey, may be used to enhance the flavor of the apple pie quesadillas.

How to Make Apple Pie Quesadillas

Making apple pie quesadillas is a simple and straightforward process. To create the filling, apples should be peeled, cored, and sliced into small pieces. The apples should be cooked in a skillet with butter, cinnamon, and sugar until they are tender and caramelized. Once the filling is ready, it should be placed on one side of a flour tortilla. The tortilla should be folded over to create a half-moon shape, and then cooked in a skillet with a small amount of butter. The apple pie quesadilla is ready when both sides of the tortilla are golden brown and crispy.
Step 1: Prepare the Apples
To make the apple filling, you’ll need to start by peeling, coring, and slicing the apples. You want to slice the apples into thin, bite-sized pieces that will cook quickly and evenly.
Step 2: Cook the Apples
In a large skillet, melt a few tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the apples, along with some cinnamon and sugar, stirring to combine. Cook the apples, stirring occasionally, until they’re tender and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
Step 3: Assemble the Quesadillas
Place a flour tortilla on a flat surface. Add some of the apple mixture to one half of the tortilla, leaving some space around the edges. Fold the tortilla in half to create a half-moon shape, pressing down gently to seal.
Step 4: Cook the Quesadillas
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a small amount of butter to the pan, and swirl to coat. Add the quesadillas to the pan, cooking for a few minutes on each side until they’re golden brown and crispy.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
Once the quesadillas are cooked, remove them from the pan and let them cool for a few minutes. Cut them into wedges and serve them warm, garnished with additional cinnamon and sugar, if desired.

Variations of Apple Pie Quesadillas

There are many variations of apple pie quesadillas, with different ingredients and cooking methods. Some recipes use cream cheese or caramel sauce to add extra flavor, while others use honey or maple syrup to sweeten the filling. Gluten-free or low-carb tortillas can be used to make the recipe healthier. Some recipes also suggest baking the quesadillas in the oven instead of cooking them on the stovetop.

Conclusion

In conclusion, apple pie quesadillas are a delicious and unique dessert that combines the flavors of apple pie and quesadillas. This recipe is easy to make and can be customized to suit individual tastes and preferences. Whether you're looking for a new dessert to impress your guests, or simply want to try something different for dessert, apple pie quesadillas are definitely worth a try! Tips for Making Apple Pie Quesadillas Recipes

Apple pie quesadillas are a delicious and unique combination of sweet apples, cinnamon, and gooey cheese, all wrapped in a crispy tortilla. While this recipe is simple, there are a few tips that can help you make the perfect apple pie quesadillas. Here are some valuable tips to consider when making apple pie quesadillas recipes:
1. Choosing the Right Apples
One of the most important things to consider when making apple pie quesadillas is the type of apples you use. You want to choose an apple that is firm and crisp, with a sweet-tart flavor that pairs well with cinnamon. Some of the best apples for apple pie quesadillas include: - Honeycrisp - Granny Smith - Braeburn - Pink Lady - Jonagold Avoid using apples that are soft or mushy, as they will not hold their shape well in the quesadillas. It's also a good idea to peel and dice the apples before cooking, as this will help them cook evenly.
2. Adding Cinnamon and Sugar
Cinnamon and sugar are two key ingredients in apple pie quesadillas. These spices help to enhance the sweetness of the apples and give the quesadillas a warm, cozy flavor. When adding cinnamon and sugar to your apple filling, it's important to taste as you go. You want to add just enough to enhance the flavor of the apples without overpowering them. Start with a small amount and add more as needed.
3. Using the Right Cheese
Cheese is another important component of apple pie quesadillas. You want to use a cheese that is melty and gooey, such as cheddar or Monterey jack. These cheeses will help to hold the quesadillas together and add richness to the dish. Be sure to grate the cheese finely and sprinkle it evenly over the apple filling.
4. Cooking the Quesadillas
To cook apple pie quesadillas, you want to first heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the skillet is hot, add a tortilla and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until it is crispy and golden brown. Be sure to press down gently on the tortilla with a spatula to make sure the filling sticks together. Once the quesadilla is cooked, remove it from the skillet and cut it into wedges. Serve immediately with a drizzle of caramel sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
5. Variations on the Recipe
While apple pie quesadillas are delicious on their own, there are a few variations you can try to mix things up. Here are a few ideas: - Add chopped walnuts or pecans to the apple filling for extra crunch. - Use a mixture of apples to add depth of flavor to the quesadillas. - Drizzle the top of the quesadillas with maple syrup instead of caramel sauce. - Top the quesadillas with a dollop of whipped cream or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
In Conclusion
Apple pie quesadillas are a fun and delicious way to enjoy the flavors of fall. With these tips in mind, you'll be able to create the perfect apple pie quesadillas recipe that everyone will love. So go ahead and get cooking!
