These are the ones my grandmother used to make: warm, flaky, apple-y sweet and drizzled with a sauce that bakes right with them. These are not difficult to make, just a little time-consuming. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

Apple Pecan Dumplings with Orange Sauce Recipes
Apple pecan dumplings with orange sauce recipes are a mouth-watering dessert that combines a warm, flaky pastry shell filled with tender apples, crunchy pecans, and topped with a tangy orange glaze. This dessert is perfect for special occasions or as a sweet treat during cold winter nights.
The Recipe
The recipe for apple pecan dumplings with orange sauce contains three main components: the pastry shell, the apple filling, and the orange sauce.
The Pastry Shell
The pastry shell is a flaky dough that is the base of the dumpling. To make the pastry shell, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until the mixture is crumbly. Add milk and stir until the dough is formed. Knead the dough and roll it out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut the dough into 6-inch squares.
The Apple Filling
The apple filling is made from a combination of tender apples, pecans, and a blend of warm spices. To make the filling, peel and core 4 large apples and cut into small cubes. Combine the apples with chopped pecans, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter. Mix well and then spoon the filling onto the center of each pastry square.
The Orange Sauce
The orange sauce is a tangy glaze that adds a burst of citrus flavor to the warm and sweet apple pecan dumplings. To make the orange sauce, combine orange juice, brown sugar, corn syrup, and orange zest in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and add butter.
The Assembly Process
To assemble the apple pecan dumplings, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Place each apple-filled pastry square on a piece of aluminum foil. Fold up the edges of the foil and pinch the edges to seal the dumpling. Place the dumplings on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender. Remove from the oven and let the dumplings cool for a few minutes. Drizzle the orange sauce over the apple pecan dumplings and serve hot.
The Variations
While the traditional recipe for apple pecan dumplings with orange sauce is hard to beat, there are a few variations that can be made to suit different taste preferences. For instance, some people prefer to add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the warm dumplings before drizzling the orange sauce. Alternatively, some people prefer to add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg on top of the orange sauce for added spice. Lastly, some people like to substitute the pecans with walnuts or almonds for a different textural experience.
The Bottom Line
Apple pecan dumplings with orange sauce recipes are a delicious and easy-to-prepare dessert that will leave everyone asking for seconds. The combination of a flaky, warm pastry shell filled with tender apples and crunchy pecans, topped with a tangy orange glaze, is a perfect treat to share with family and friends during special occasions or just as a sweet escape on chilly winter nights.
