CAKE:
3 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 c sugar
6 oz greek yogurt, plain
3/4 c oil, canola or vegetable
2 tsp ground fennel seed*
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp orange zest, grated
4 c apples, peeled & diced (about 4 medium apples)
3/4 c dried cranberries
1/2 c pine nuts, toasted**
ICING:
2 c powdered sugar
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. In a bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, & salt. Set aside.
  • 3. In large bowl, beat together eggs and sugar, then add yogurt, oil, ground fennel, vanilla, & orange zest. Mix well.
  • 4. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet mixture. Mix until thoroughly combined. Fold in apples, cranberries, and pine nuts until fully incorporated and evenly distributed.
  • 5. Thoroughly coat 10" bundt pan with non-stick spray(or grease and flour pan well). Spread batter into pan evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes, or until toothpick or knife comes out clean. Let cool in pan for a few minutes, remove from pan and let cool completely on a rack.
  • 6. To make icing: sift together powdered sugar and cinnamon. Whisk in vanilla then whisk in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired thickness/consistency and lump free. Pour over cake and let drizzle down sides.
  • 7. * Ground fennel is difficult to find in stores. Buy whole fennel seeds and grind finely in a spice grinder. ** To toast pine nuts, put nuts in a dry skillet and toast on medium heat for a few minutes until slightly golden brown. Stir often and watch closely as they can turn too brown/burn quickly.

Apple nut bundt cake is a delicious dessert that combines the flavors of apples and walnuts with a moist and decadent cake. This cake is a perfect treat for any occasion, from holidays to birthdays to casual dinner parties. There are many different recipes for apple nut bundt cake, each with their variations on the ingredients and cooking process.

The Basic Ingredients

Most apple nut bundt cake recipes start with a basic set of ingredients. The first is flour, which provides the structure for the cake. Sugar is added for sweetness, and eggs are used to bind the ingredients together. Baking powder and salt are added to help the cake rise and flavor, respectively. Butter is used to make the cake moist and tender, and milk is added to provide moisture as well.
Apple and Nut Additions
The star ingredients in apple nut bundt cake are, of course, the apples and nuts. Apples are typically used in their grated form, adding moisture and flavor to the cake. The type of apple used can vary, from tart Granny Smiths to sweet Honeycrisps. The nuts used in the cake are usually walnuts or pecans, providing a crunchy texture and nutty flavor.
Additional Flavorings
Many apple nut bundt cake recipes include additional flavorings to enhance the taste of the cake. Cinnamon is a popular choice, adding warmth and spice to the mix. Nutmeg, allspice, and ginger are also commonly used. Vanilla is added for sweetness and depth of flavor, and lemon zest is sometimes included to add a citrusy note.

The Mixing Process

The mixing process for apple nut bundt cake is relatively straightforward. First, the wet ingredients are mixed together. This includes the butter and sugar, which are creamed together until light and fluffy. Eggs are then added, one at a time, until well combined. Once the wet ingredients are fully mixed, the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, and spices) are sifted together and added to the wet ingredients in several batches. The grated apples and chopped nuts are then folded in.
Baking the Cake
Once the batter is mixed, it is poured into a bundt pan and baked at 325°F for about an hour. The exact baking time varies depending on the recipe and the oven used, but the cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. After the cake has cooled, it can be dusted with powdered sugar or glazed with a simple icing made from powdered sugar and milk.

Conclusion

Apple nut bundt cake is a versatile dessert that can be customized to suit a variety of tastes. With its blend of sweet apples, crunchy nuts, and warm spices, it is sure to be a hit with anyone who tries it. Valuable Tips for Making Apple Nut Bundt Cake Recipes

Looking to make a delicious and moist Apple Nut Bundt Cake? Here are some valuable tips to help you create the perfect bundt cake.
1. Choosing the Right Apples
When it comes to making an Apple Nut Bundt Cake, choosing the right apples can make a significant difference in the flavor and texture of your cake. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady apples are great options for this recipe. These apples are firm, juicy, and slightly tart, which gives the cake a sweet and tangy flavor.
2. Testing Apples’ Ripeness
Before using the apples for the recipe, it’s essential to test their ripeness. You can do this by picking up an apple and giving it a gentle squeeze. If the apple is firm and doesn’t leave any pressure marks, it’s not quite ripe yet. On the other hand, if the apple feels soft and leaves a mark, it’s overripe. The ideal apple for this recipe should be firm and leave a slight mark that fades quickly.
3. Preparing the Bundt Pan
One of the essential steps in making an Apple Nut Bundt Cake is preparing the bundt pan. You don’t want your cake to stick to the pan, which can ruin its presentation and texture. Firstly, brush the bundt pan with melted butter, making sure you reach every nook and cranny. Then, sprinkle a thin layer of flour over the pan to form a coating. This will help the cake release easily from the pan, leaving no residue behind.
4. Chopping the Apples and Nuts
Chop the apples and nuts into small, uniform-sized pieces. This allows them to distribute evenly throughout the cake, resulting in a moist and flavorful texture. Using a sharp knife or a food processor to chop the apples and nuts ensures that the pieces are consistent in size and won’t overpower the cake’s texture.
5. Mixing the Batter
When mixing the batter, beat the eggs and sugar together until they’re light and fluffy. This will create air pockets in the batter, making it less dense and giving the cake a fluffier texture. Then, add the oil, vanilla extract, and sour cream, stirring until the ingredients are well incorporated. Next, slowly mix in the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt) until the batter is smooth.
6. Filling the Bundt Pan
When filling the bundt pan, it’s best to do it in two parts. Spoon half of the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly to ensure that there are no gaps. Then, sprinkle half of the chopped apples and nuts over the batter. Spoon the remaining batter over the apples and nuts, spreading it evenly once more. Finally, sprinkle the remaining apples and nuts on top, gently pressing them into the batter.
7. Baking the Cake
Baking the cake is an important part of the process, as it can make or break the final outcome of your cake. Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the cake for approximately 45-50 minutes. Use a toothpick to test the cake’s doneness by inserting it into the center of the cake. If the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is ready. If it’s wet, bake the cake for an additional 5-10 minutes.
8. Cooling and Serving the Cake
When the cake is finished baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for around 10 minutes. Then, carefully flip the pan over onto a wire rack, gently tapping the bottom of the pan to release the cake. Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing it. Serve it with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra touch of deliciousness.

Conclusion

Making an Apple Nut Bundt Cake is a classic recipe that’s perfect for any occasion. By following these valuable tips, you can create the perfect bundt cake that’s flavorful, moist, and fluffy. Remember to choose the right apples, prepare the bundt pan, and mix the batter well. When baking the cake, test it for doneness and let it cool before slicing it. With these tips, you’ll be able to create a delicious Apple Nut Bundt Cake that everyone will love.
