Categories     dessert

Time 45m

Yield about 16 pies

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 boxes prepared frozen puff pastry
6 apples
1 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup honey
Pinch salt
3/4 cup fresh blueberries
1 egg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons sugar
All-purpose flour, for dusting work surface

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  • Thaw the sheets of puff pastry as per the box instructions.
  • Peel and core the apples and cut into quarters. Toss the apples in the lemon juice so they do not brown while you are dicing them. Cut each quarter into about 2 to 3 (1-inch) pieces.
  • In a large saute pan over medium heat, melt the butter until lightly browned. Add the apples and saute for about 3 to 5 minutes until lightly browned. Add the honey and a pinch of salt and toss to mix in well, transfer to the oven and roast for about 15 minutes until apples are soft. Mash with a fork while still warm. Let the apples cool to room temperature and gently fold in the berries.
  • Turn the oven down to 400 degrees F.
  • In a small mixing bowl beat 1 egg. In another small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar.
  • Lay the thawed puff pastry sheets out flat on a floured work surface. Cut large circles out of the pastry with a ring cutter, about 4 per pastry sheet. Brush with the egg-wash on the outer edge of half of the circle. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the apple berry mixture in the center of each round of pastry dough. Fold the dough over to cover the filling, making a semi-circle and sealing the edges.
  • Place pies on a buttered oven tray. Repeat with the rest of the pastry dough. When all of the pies are on a sheet tray cut air holes in the top of each pie and brush the tops with egg wash. Sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until puffed and nicely browned.

SPICED APPLE & BLACKBERRY HAND PIES

Spiced apple & blackberry hand pies image

Bring autumn into your kitchen with these delicious apple and blackberry pies. Sprinkle with sugar and serve with custard for the ultimate comfort food

Provided by Miriam Nice

Categories     Afternoon tea, Dessert, Treat

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 cooking apples , peeled, cored and cut into small pieces
50g golden caster sugar
150g blackberries
1 tbsp cornflour
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp cinnamon
2 x 320g shortcrust pastry sheets
1 egg , beaten
1 tbsp white caster sugar
custard , to serve (optional)

Steps:

  • Put the apples and golden caster sugar in a saucepan with 2 tbsp water and cook, covered, for 6 mins or until the apples are soft, stirring once or twice. Tip the mixture into a shallow dish and spread out to cool slightly, then tip in the blackberries and stir. In a separate bowl, mix the cornflour with the honey and cinnamon, then stir it into the fruit mixture.
  • Unroll the pastry sheets and, using a 10cm round cutter, cut out 12 circles. Spoon the fruit filling onto half of the pastry circles, leaving a border of about 1cm around the edge. Brush the beaten egg around the edges and place a plain pastry disc on top to encase the filling, then make a little dent in the top and bottom to form an apple shape. Seal the edges all the way around using the prongs of a fork, then brush with egg. Use the pastry off-cuts to cut out little leaf shapes and stalks, then stick them on with beaten egg. Poke a steam hole in the top with a skewer. Repeat with the remaining pastry and filling. Arrange the pies on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment and chill for at least 30 mins, or up to 24 hrs. Can be frozen unbaked for up to 2 months.
  • Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Bake the pies for 20 mins, or until the pastry is golden and the filling is bubbling through the hole. If cooking from frozen, bake for an extra 5 mins. Sprinkle with the sugar, then leave to cool for at least 20 mins before serving with custard.

APPLE BUTTER HAND PIES

Apple Butter Hand Pies image

These hand pies are easy to transport, making them perfect for picnics and hostess gifts.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Dessert & Treats Recipes     Pie & Tarts Recipes

Yield Makes 14

Number Of Ingredients 13

8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 large egg
3 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
2 tablespoons buttermilk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
Grated zest of 1 lemon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups Apple Butter
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine butter and 1 cup sugar. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add egg to the sugar-butter mixture, and beat until just blended.
  • Add cream cheese, buttermilk, and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, lemon zest, and salt, and add to the cream-cheese mixture. Beat until completely blended. Transfer the dough to a piece of plastic wrap, and using your hands, press the dough into a 1-inch-thick patty, wrap well, and refrigerate for at least one hour. If preparing ahead of time, the dough can be stored at this point for up to one month in the freezer.
  • Divide the refrigerated dough in half. On a lightly floured work surface, roll out one half of the dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Using a 4 1/2-inch-round biscuit cutter, cut seven circles out of the rolled dough. Transfer the circles to a parchment-lined baking sheet, and place in the refrigerator to chill for about 30 minutes. Repeat the rolling, cutting, and chilling process with the remaining half of dough.
  • Remove the chilled dough from the refrigerator, and let stand at room temperature until just pliable, 2 to 3 minutes. Spoon about 2 tablespoons apple butter onto one half of each circle of dough. Using your fingers or the back of a spoon, spread out apple butter. Keep apple butter on half the circle, and spread until it is about 1/2 inch from the edge, making sure apple butter is not completely flattened. Quickly brush a little cold water around the circumference of the dough, and fold it in half so the other side comes down over the apple butter, creating a semicircle. Seal the hand pie, and make a decorative edge by pressing the edges of the dough together with the back of a fork. Repeat process with remaining dough. Place the hand pies on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and return to the refrigerator to chill for another 30 minutes.
  • Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar and the cinnamon in a small mixing bowl. Remove the chilled hand pies from the refrigerator, and lightly brush with cold water. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar generously over the pies, and place pies in the oven to bake. Bake until the hand pies are golden brown and just slightly cracked, about 20 minutes. Remove the pies from the oven, and let stand to cool slightly before serving.

APPLE FUNNEL CAKE HAND PIES

Apple Funnel Cake Hand Pies image

Fresh fruit is too juicy to handle hot oil... But if you add some dried fruit to the mixture, it'll absorb some of the fresh fruit's juices, plump up, and keep the whole thing from bursting.

Provided by MrsWheelbarrow

Categories     Desserts     Fruit Dessert Recipes     Apple Dessert Recipes

Time 1h20m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 ½ cups finely chopped, peeled tart apples
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¾ cup chopped dried apples
1 recipe Buttermilk Dough for Fried Fruit Pies, chilled
2 cups canola oil for frying, or more as needed
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar, or as needed

Steps:

  • Stir together fresh apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon in a small saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil until apples start to soften, about 8 minutes. Stir in dried apples and cool completely.
  • Meanwhile, let chilled dough stand for 30 minutes. Place a few layers of paper towels on a rack set over a baking sheet.
  • Lightly flour work surface and roll dough out to a 12x16-inch rectangle about 1/8-inch thick. Cut out twelve 4-inch rounds. Place 2 tablespoons apple mixture in the center of 1 round. Lift carefully. Fold round in half, keeping filling securely in center. Press edges together. Crimp edge thoroughly with a floured fork. Repeat with remaining filling and dough.
  • Heat 1 inch of oil to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or other straight-sided deep, heavy skillet.
  • Slide pies into oil, 3 at a time. Fry, adjusting heat as needed to keep oil at 350 degrees F, and turning every 30 seconds to prevent scorching, until golden brown, blistered, and crispy, about 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Let cool a few minutes, then shower excessively with confectioners' sugar.

GOOEY CARAMEL APPLE HAND PIES

Gooey Caramel Apple Hand Pies image

Provided by Jeff Mauro, host of Sandwich King

Categories     dessert

Time 1h35m

Yield 8 hand pies

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon salted butter
Two 9-inch unbaked, unrolled pie crusts
1 to 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and diced into 1/4-inch cubes (about 1 cup)
Couple pinches ground cinnamon
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup demerara sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Mound about 1 heaping tablespoon of the apple filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough in half and crimp the edges with a fork.
  • Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with demerara sugar. Cut 2 small slits on top of each pie and bake on silicone-lined sheet pan until golden, 20 to 25 minutes. Drizzle the hand pies with leftover caramel sauce and serve.

I combined several recipes I found on the web along with a gluten-free pie crust recipe I found. Although there are several steps, these hand pies are simple. APPLE HAND PIES

Apple Hand Pies image

These hand pies, also known as turnovers, look too perfect to be homemade. Any of your favorite pie fillings, both sweet and savory, will work. I hope you give this easy technique a try soon. Enjoy!

Provided by Chef John

Categories     Desserts     Pies     Apple Pie Recipes

Time 1h15m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 pound prepared pie dough, cut into 4 pieces
2 large green apples, peeled and cored
2 tablespoons butter
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup white sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon, or to taste
1 teaspoon water, or more if needed
1 egg
2 teaspoons milk
1 teaspoon white sugar, or as needed - divided

Steps:

  • Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  • Cut peeled and cored apples into quarters, cut each quarter into 3 wedges, and cut wedges into chunks.
  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; let butter brown to a light golden color and until butter smells toasted, about 1 minute. Stir apples into hot butter; sprinkle with salt, white sugar, and brown sugar. Cook and stir apple mixture until apples are softened, about 5 minutes. Mix in cinnamon and water; continue cooking until apples are soft and sticky, 1 to 2 more minutes. Spread apple filling onto a plate to cool.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Form a dough piece into a ball, place on a floured work surface, and roll into a circle about 8 inches in diameter. Spoon 1/3 to 1/2 cup apple filling in the center. Fold dough over filling, leaving about 1 inch of dough on the bottom side visible below the top side. Gently press dough closed around filling, using your fingertips.
  • Fold the overhanging bottom part of the dough up over the top edge, working your way around the crust, and pinch the overhang tightly to the top part of the crust.
  • Crimp the edge tightly closed, pinching a little bit of dough with the thumb and forefinger of one hand and using your index finger on the other hand to push a small notch into the pinched dough. Continue pinching and notching all the way around until the crust is tightly crimped together. Repeat with remaining dough and filling. Transfer pies onto prepared baking sheet.
  • Whisk egg with milk in a small bowl until thoroughly combined. Brush top of each hand pie with egg mixture and sprinkle with about 1/4 teaspoon white sugar. Cut 3 small vent holes in the top of each pie.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until pies are golden brown and filling is bubbling, 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Cook, stirring frequently, until the onion is softened and caramelized, 8 to 10 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons water and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom and sides of the pan.
  • Increase the heat to medium high. Add the apples and cook, stirring, until just starting to soften, 3 to 5 minutes. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon butter, then sprinkle with the sugar, ginger, 2 teaspoons of the thyme and another pinch of salt. Cook, stirring, until the apples are very tender and light golden, about 6 minutes more. Stir in 1/4 cup of the Cheddar cheese spread and cook until melted and smooth, then remove from the heat. Transfer to a medium bowl and refrigerate until completely cool, about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment.
  • Unroll a pie dough sheet on a cutting board or clean work surface. Cut out 8 circles with a 4-inch round cutter; gather and reroll the dough if necessary. Beat the egg in a small bowl with 1 teaspoon water. Place about 1 tablespoon of the apple filling into the center of a dough round, then top with 1/4 teaspoon of the remaining Cheddar cheese spread. Brush the edges with some egg wash and fold the dough over to make a half-moon shape. Press out the air and seal the edges with a fork. Transfer to one of the prepared baking sheets. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
  • Brush the hand pies with more egg wash and sprinkle with the sesame seeds, poppy seeds and remaining 1 tablespoon thyme. Bake until golden brown and puffed, 20 to 25 minutes.

APPLE HAND PIES

Apple hand pies image

Make a batch of apple hand pies and freeze them, uncooked, for a later date. Spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, they're encased in a golden shortcrust pastry

Provided by Liberty Mendez

Categories     Dessert

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cooking apples (we used Bramley), peeled, cored and cut into 3cm chunks
50g light brown soft sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
25g salted butter, cubed
320g sheet of ready-rolled shortcrust pastry
1 tbsp cornflour
1 egg, beaten
1 tbsp demerara sugar

Steps:

  • Tip the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and butter into a saucepan set over a medium heat and simmer, stirring occasionally for 6-8 mins until the apples are soft. Tip the mixture into a bowl and leave to cool.
  • Meanwhile, unroll the pastry with a short side facing you. Cut in half lengthways so you have two long rectangles, then cut each into five smaller rectangles, so you have 10 in total (they should be 12 x 7cm).
  • Once the spiced apple mixture has cooled, toss with the cornflour. Spoon into the middle of half the pastry rectangles, leaving the remaining five empty. Brush some of the beaten egg over the exposed pastry around the apples, then carefully place the plain pastry rectangles on top of the filling. Press down around the sides so the filling is encased. Crimp the edges using a fork to seal, then use the tip of a knife to lightly cut three lines across the top of the pies so that steam can escape during cooking.
  • Arrange the pies on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment and brush all over with more of the beaten egg. Chill for at least 30 mins in the fridge or 10 mins in the freezer. At this stage, the pies can be chilled for up to 24 hrs or individually covered and kept frozen for two months.
  • Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Brush with more of the beaten egg, sprinkle with the demerara sugar and bake for 15-20 mins, or until the pastry is golden (add another 10 mins if baking from frozen). Once baked and cooled, will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.

PEACH, APPLE AND CURRANT HAND PIES

Peach, Apple and Currant Hand Pies image

Who says pie can't be the perfect picnic dessert? These travel-friendly hand pies are full of comforting flavors but bake in a fraction of the time.

Provided by Valerie Bertinelli

Categories     dessert

Time 45m

Yield 6 hand pies

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 Honeycrisp apple, peeled and chopped into 1/3-inch pieces (about 1 1/2 cups)
8 ounces thawed, drained frozen peaches, roughly chopped
1/4 cup dried currants
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Kosher salt
One 14- to 16-ounce box refrigerated rolled pie crusts (2 crusts), thawed to room temperature
All-purpose flour, for the surface
1 large egg
Turbinado sugar, optional, for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Heat a nonstick pan over medium heat and add the butter. When the butter has melted, add the chopped apples and sauté, stirring frequently, until they're slightly softened, about 3 minutes. Turn the heat to low and add in the chopped peaches, dried currants, brown sugar, orange juice, cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine and turn off the heat. Let the mixture cool before forming the hand pies.
  • Meanwhile, prepare your pie dough. Working with one crust at a time, unroll the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Lightly flour a rolling pin and roll the pie dough out into a 13-inch round. Use a 6-inch circle cutter to cut out 3 rounds of pie dough. Place the dough rounds onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat the process with the second crust; you should end up with six 6-inch rounds of pie dough. Reserve leftover pie dough for a later use.
  • Working one at a time, place a round of dough on a clean work surface and spoon 1/4 cup filling onto one side of the round. Lift the empty side up and over the filling, creating a half-moon. Use a fork to crimp the edges together, sealing the pie. Place the pie on the prepared baking sheet and repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
  • To make the egg wash, whisk the egg and a splash of water together in a small bowl. Brush each pie with an even layer of the egg wash and sprinkle on the turbinado sugar if desired. Use a sharp knife to cut an "X" on top of each pie. Transfer the pies to the oven and bake until the pies are golden, 20 to 23 minutes.

APPLE CREAM-CHEESE HAND PIES

Apple Cream-Cheese Hand Pies image

Provided by My Food and Family

Categories     Home

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 20

4 oz. PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheesem at room temperature (1/2 package)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
zest of 1 lemon
1 egg yolk
5-1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
2 tsp. kosher salt
2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1 lb. (4 sticks) cold, unsalted butter, cut into ½-inch pieces
2 cups cold water
1/2 cup HEINZ Apple Cider Vinegar
2 cups ice
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
1-3/4 lb. apples, peeled, cored and diced (about 5 cups)
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 grind black pepper
2 dashes angostura bitters (optional)
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
coarse sugar for finishing

Steps:

  • Make the Fillings:
  • Combine cream cheese filling ingredients in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat until smooth. Place in fridge until ready to use.
  • For the apple pie filling, melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Add the rest of the filling ingredients and cook over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, until apples are soft but not mushy. Use a slotted spoon to strain out the apple pieces. Return the pan to the stove and continue to cook for another 5 to 10 minutes until juice is reduced to 1/3 and is thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon. Pour thickened juice back onto apples. Let cool to room temperature
  • Make the All Butter Pie Crust:
  • Stir the flour, salt, and sugar together in a large bowl. Add the butter pieces and coat with the flour mixture using a bench scraper or spatula. With a pastry blender, cut the butter into the flour mixture, working quickly until mostly pea-sized pieces of butter remain (a few larger pieces are OK; be careful not to overblend).
  • Combine the water, cider vinegar, and ice in a large measuring cup or small bowl. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of the ice-water mixture over the flour mixture, and mix and cut it in with a bench scraper or spatula until it is fully incorporated. Add more of the ice-water mixture, 1 to 2 tablespoons at a time, using the bench scraper or your hands (or both) to mix until the dough comes together in a ball, with some dry bits remaining. Squeeze and pinch with your fingertips to bring all the dough together, sprinkling dry bits with more small drops of the ice-water mixture, if necessary, to combine. Shape the dough into a flat disc, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight, to give the crust time to mellow. Wrapped tightly, the dough can be refrigerated for 3 days or frozen for 1 month.
  • Make the Hand Pies:
  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Roll chilled pie dough out on floured surface to approximately 1/8 inch thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut out forty 4-inch circles, re-rolling if necessary. Place a dollop of cream cheese in the center of half of the circles. Top with a spoonful of the apple pie filling.
  • Cover with another pie dough round and gently pinch the edges together. Use the tines of a fork to seal further and to create a fluted edge. Cut a small X-shaped slit on the top of each pie with a paring knife.
  • Use a pastry brush to brush with heavy cream and sprinkle with raw or demerara sugar. Chill in freezer for 10 minutes before baking. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes until dark golden.

Spoon a small portion of the apple filling into the center of each circle, leaving enough of a border around the filling. Top the apple filling with a portion of the chopped caramels and a pinch of sea salt. Place a second dough circle atop each filled circle then use a fork to crimp the edges together, sealing each pie.
  • Brush each pie with the egg wash, and using a sharp knife, cut two or three vents on the top of each pie. Sprinkle the pies with crystal sanding sugar (optional).
  • Bake the pies for about 15 minutes, or until they're golden brown.

  • Kelly's Notes:.
  • The cubed apples should be no larger than the size of corn kernels to ensure they become tender during the quick 15-minute bake time.
  • Large flake sea salt is available in most supermarkets. My preferred brand is Maldon Salt.
  • If the dough is too firm to work with after refrigerating, allow it to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before cutting out the circular shapes.
  • If the sour cream in the dough makes it too sticky at any point in the rolling out process, just simply sprinkle a pinch of flour atop the wet areas and continue rolling.

Valuable Tips When Making Apple Hand Pies Recipes

Apple hand pies are a delicious treat that are perfect for any occasion. Whether you are looking to impress your friends and family at a party or simply want to indulge in a sweet treat, these pies are a great option. However, as with any baking recipe, there are certain tips and tricks that can help you achieve the perfect apple hand pies. Here are some valuable tips to keep in mind when making your apple hand pies.
1. Use the Right Apples
The key to a great apple hand pie recipe is to use the right type of apples. Although any type of apple can be used, some are better suited for baking than others. For example, Granny Smith apples are a popular choice due to their firm texture and tart flavor. Honeycrisp and Jonagold apples are also great options due to their firm texture and sweet flavor.
2. Make Sure the Apples are Cut Small
When making apple hand pies, it is important to cut the apples into small pieces. This will ensure that they cook evenly and do not become too mushy. Aim for apple pieces that are about ½ an inch in size.
3. Don't Overfill the Pies
It can be tempting to overfill your apple hand pies with a generous amount of apple filling. However, this can lead to the pies bursting open and becoming messy. Aim to fill each pie with about 2 tablespoons of apple filling to ensure that they are not overloaded.
4. Use Pre-Made Pie Dough
While some bakers may opt to create their own pie dough from scratch, using pre-made pie dough can save time and effort. Look for store-bought pie dough that is of good quality and follow the instructions on the packaging to ensure that your pies turn out well.
5. Use a Sharp Knife
When cutting your pie dough into individual circles, it is important to use a sharp knife. This will ensure that the dough does not tear or become misshapen.
6. Chill the Dough
Before baking your apple hand pies, it is a good idea to chill the dough for about 20 minutes. This will help the dough to firm up and make it easier to work with.
7. Use an Egg Wash
To ensure that your apple hand pies have a golden-brown crust, it is a good idea to use an egg wash. Simply beat an egg and brush a small amount onto each pie before baking.
8. Allow the Pies to Cool
After baking your apple hand pies, it can be tempting to dig in right away. However, it is important to allow the pies to cool for at least 5-10 minutes before serving. This will ensure that the filling has time to set and will prevent any burns from hot filling.
9. Get Creative with Your Filling
While apple hand pies are delicious on their own, you can also get creative with your fillings. Consider adding cinnamon, nutmeg, or even caramel to your apple filling for an extra burst of flavor.
10. Serve with a Scoop of Ice Cream
To take your apple hand pies to the next level, serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The combination of warm apple pie and cool ice cream is sure to be a hit with your friends and family. In conclusion, following these valuable tips when making your apple hand pies will help ensure that they turn out perfectly every time. Remember to use the right apples, cut them small, and avoid overfilling your pies. Using pre-made pie dough, a sharp knife, and an egg wash will also help you achieve a great result. Don't forget to allow the pies to cool before serving and get creative with your fillings. Lastly, consider serving your apple hand pies with a scoop of ice cream for a truly special dessert.
