Time 55m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 (1 1/4 pound) pork tenderloin
kosher salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
½ sweet onion, diced
1 Gala apple, cut into chunks
½ cup Riesling wine
1 cup apple jelly
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking dish large enough to hold the tenderloin without folding it.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, and brown the pork tenderloin on all sides. Remove the browned tenderloin to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle all sides of the meat with salt, pepper, and parsley.
  • Cook and stir the onion and apple in the same skillet over medium heat until the onion becomes soft, about 5 minutes, and pour in the Riesling wine. Scrape all the browned flavor bits off the bottom of the skillet and stir to help dissolve them into the wine. Bring to a boil, and pour the onion, apple, and wine mixture over the tenderloin.
  • Mix together the apple jelly and balsamic vinegar in a bowl until the mixture is smooth and without lumps. Spread the jelly mixture all over the pork.
  • Bake loin in the preheated oven until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center reads 145 degrees F (63 degrees C), 30 to 45 minutes. Allow the tenderloin to rest for 10 minutes before slicing, and serve each slice with a spoonful of the apple-onion mixture.

APPLE-MAPLE GLAZED PORK TENDERLOIN

Apple-Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin image

This is from another web site but is so awesome tasting that you will want to try it for sure!!! And its sooooo simple!! If the glaze is prepared ahead of time it will thicken, just reheat it in the micro until it melts and then use it. UPDATE:::Made this again the other day and DID marinate it. I made the sauce, added the pork and popped in the fridge for 2 hours, took out the pork and put on the grill and microwaved the sauce, if you dont heat the sauce it will be WAY too sticky for the grill and believe me you will have a mess! I have also done this with some very thick (1 1/2 inch) cook out style pork chops and they were super too!

Pork tenderloin is a lean cut of meat that is easy to prepare and pairs well with a variety of flavors. One popular way to enjoy pork tenderloin is with an apple glazed recipe. The combination of sweet and savory is a hit with many people, but there are some important tips to keep in mind when making this dish.

Tips for Selecting and Preparing Pork Tenderloin

Choose a high-quality cut
When selecting pork tenderloin for your recipe, it's important to choose a high-quality cut of meat. Look for pork that is bright pink with a smooth texture and minimal fat. Select pork that is labeled "all-natural" or "organic" for the best flavor and texture.
Trim the fat
While pork tenderloin is a relatively lean cut of meat, there may still be some visible fat that needs to be trimmed away before cooking. Use a sharp knife to carefully remove any excess fat and silver skin from the meat. This will not only improve the appearance of the dish, but it will also improve the texture and flavor of the meat.
Marinate the meat
To add flavor and tenderness to your pork tenderloin, consider marinating it before cooking. A simple marinade can be made with apple cider vinegar, olive oil, garlic, and herbs. Allow the pork to marinate for at least 30 minutes, but preferably several hours or overnight. This will help break down the muscle fibers and make the meat more tender.

Tips for Making an Apple Glaze

Choose the right apples
For a truly delicious apple-glazed pork tenderloin, it's important to choose the right apples. Avoid sour or tart apples, as they may create a flavor imbalance in the dish. Instead, opt for sweet apples like Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji. These apples will add a natural sweetness to the glaze that complements the savory flavor of the pork.
Use the right cooking techniques
To make an apple glaze, it's important to use the right cooking techniques. Begin by sautéing chopped apples in a skillet with butter or oil until they are tender and slightly caramelized. Then, add spices like cinnamon or nutmeg and a sweetener like brown sugar or honey. Allow the mixture to simmer until it thickens, stirring frequently. This will create a rich, flavorful glaze that will complement the pork tenderloin.
Strain the glaze
After cooking the apple glaze, it's important to strain it before using it on the pork tenderloin. Use a fine mesh strainer to remove any lumps or bits of apple, leaving you with a smooth, velvety glaze that will coat the meat perfectly.

Tips for Cooking Pork Tenderloin with Apple Glaze

Use a meat thermometer
Cooking pork tenderloin can be tricky, as it's important to avoid overcooking the meat. To ensure that your pork reaches the proper temperature, use a meat thermometer. Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the meat and look for a temperature of at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit. This will indicate that the pork is fully cooked but still juicy and tender.
Sear the meat first
For the best flavor and texture, consider searing the pork tenderloin before cooking it in the oven. Heat oil in a skillet over high heat and add the pork, cooking until it is browned on all sides. This will lock in the juices and create a crispy, caramelized exterior that is sure to impress.
Baste the meat with the glaze
To infuse the pork tenderloin with apple flavor, baste it with the apple glaze while it cooks. Use a basting brush to apply the glaze every 10-15 minutes, until the pork reaches the desired internal temperature. This will create a delicious crust on the meat that is both sweet and savory.

Conclusion

Apple glazed pork tenderloin is a delicious dish that is sure to impress your family and guests. By following these valuable tips for selecting, preparing, and cooking pork tenderloin with apple glaze, you can create a meal that is both flavorful and tender. Remember to choose high-quality meat, use a flavorful marinade, and select the right apples for your glaze. With a little bit of preparation and attention to detail, you can create a dish that is sure to become a family favorite.
