1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 c butter
1/2 c white sugar (or splenda)
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c water

(6)8 inch-flour tortillas {pre cooked - store bought is great for this, just be sure to buy flour tortillas

Steps:

  • 1. Spoon about one heaping quarter cup of pie filling evenly down the center of each tortilla. Sprinkle with cinnamon (I have my cinnamon in a shaker bottle, so I just sprinkle some on each as I am rolling them) roll up, tucking in edges; and place seam side down in prepared dish.

Apple enchiladas with cinnamon vanilla sauce is a mouthwatering dessert that is easy to make at home. It is a combination of sweet apples, cinnamon, vanilla, and soft tortillas that are rolled up and baked until golden brown. The cinnamon vanilla sauce adds a rich flavor that enhances the whole dish. In this article, we will discuss some valuable tips that you can follow when making apple enchiladas with cinnamon vanilla sauce.

Tips for Making Apple Enchiladas

1. Use the Right Apples
Choosing the right apples is important when making apple enchiladas. You want to choose apples that are firm and slightly tart. This will help balance the sweetness of the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture. Some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn apples. Avoid using apples that are too sweet as they may become too soft during the baking process.
2. Cut the Apples into Small Pieces
When preparing the apples, make sure to cut them into small, even-sized pieces. This will ensure that the apples cook evenly and soften properly. Cutting the apples into small pieces will also make it easier to roll them up in the tortillas.
3. Add a Dash of Lemon Juice
Adding a small amount of lemon juice to the apple mixture will brighten the flavors and prevent the apples from turning brown. Simply squeeze a small amount of lemon juice over the diced apples and mix well.
4. Warm the Tortillas
Before rolling the apple mixture in the tortillas, it's a good idea to warm them up slightly. This will make them more pliable and easier to work with. You can warm the tortillas in the microwave for a few seconds or in a skillet over low heat.
5. Place the Rolled Enchiladas Seam-Side Down
When placing the rolled enchiladas in the baking dish, make sure to place them seam-side down. This will ensure that the filling stays inside the tortillas and doesn't leak out during baking.
6. Brush the Enchiladas with Butter
Brushing the top of the enchiladas with melted butter before baking will help them brown evenly and add extra flavor.

Tips for Making Cinnamon Vanilla Sauce

1. Use High-Quality Vanilla Extract
Using high-quality vanilla extract will make a big difference in the overall flavor of the sauce. Look for pure vanilla extract rather than imitation, and choose a brand you trust.
2. Let the Sauce Simmer Gently
When making the cinnamon vanilla sauce, it's important to simmer it gently over low heat. This will prevent the milk from scorching and the sauce from becoming too thick.
3. Whisk Constantly
Whisking the sauce constantly while it simmers will help prevent lumps from forming and ensure a smooth, silky texture.
4. Don't Overcook the Sauce
Overcooking the cinnamon vanilla sauce can cause it to curdle or become too thick. Remove the sauce from the heat as soon as it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
5. Strain the Sauce
To ensure a smooth and silky texture, it's a good idea to strain the cinnamon vanilla sauce through a fine-mesh strainer before serving. This will remove any lumps or bits of cinnamon that may have developed during cooking.

Conclusion

These tips will help you create a delicious and impressive dessert that will satisfy any sweet tooth. By using high-quality ingredients and paying attention to the details, you can create a perfect apple enchilada with cinnamon vanilla sauce that your family and friends will love. Whether you're serving it for a special occasion or just for a cozy night in, this dessert is sure to be a hit.
