Childhood memories abound in this dessert. My mother would make this for functions that I attended and it always garnered tons of raves and requests for the recipe. Inexpensive and delicious. Extremely easy to make. Recipe is not my own, I received it after making a request here on "Zaar". :)

Fresh Apples
Fresh apples are the core ingredient of this recipe. The type of apple you use can affect the overall taste of the dish. For instance, granny smith apples tend to be tart and hold their shape, whereas honeycrisp apples are sweeter and softer. Regardless of the kind of apple used, it should be fresh and firm to ensure that it holds its shape when baked.
Corn Flakes

With these ingredients and easy steps to follow, you can create a delicious apple crisp with corn flakes that everyone will enjoy.
Apple crisp with corn flakes is a delicious dessert that is enjoyed by people of all ages, especially during the fall season. The recipe is simple, yet the end result is always mouth-watering. This dessert can be served warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream on top. If you are planning to make apple crisp with corn flakes, then here are valuable tips that can help you achieve the perfect taste and texture.

Pick the Right Apples:

The type of apples you choose for your apple crisp can make a big difference in the taste and texture of the dessert. Generally, tart apples like Granny Smith apples, Honeycrisp, or Braeburns work best for apple crisp, but you could also use a mix of tart and sweet apples like Gala or Fuji.

Prep Your Apples:

Before you mix your apple crisp, it is important to properly prep your apples. You should peel, core, and slice them into thin pieces. This will help ensure even cooking and prevent the apple pieces from turning mushy.

Add Some Flavor:

While apples are the star of the show, you can add other flavors to your apple crisp. Cinnamon is a classic spice that pairs well with apples, but you could also add some nutmeg, ginger or cardamom to spice things up. You can also add a tablespoon of lemon juice to brighten up the flavors and prevent the apples from browning.

Make a Perfect Topping:

The topping is what really sets an apple crisp apart. The traditional apple crisp topping consists of a mixture of butter, brown sugar, flour, and rolled oats. You can also add some chopped nuts like pecans, almonds or walnuts to add an extra crunch. In this recipe, we use corn flakes as a substitute for oats. You can also use graham crackers, pretzels or cookies.

Use Cold Butter:

It is important to use cold butter when making the topping because it is easier to cut into small pieces and will help create a crumbly texture. If you use room temperature butter, the topping will be too soft, and it might sink into the apples.

Preheat the Oven:

Preheating the oven to the correct temperature is important when making any dessert. You should preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) before baking the apple crisp. This will ensure that the dessert cooks evenly and gets a nice crispy topping.

Don’t Overmix:

When mixing the butter, sugar and flour for the topping, you should not overmix as this can result in a dense and heavy topping. Use a fork to mix the ingredients until just combined.

Use a 9×13 inch Baking Dish:

A 9×13 inch baking dish is the perfect size for making apple crisp. It is important to use a baking dish that is deep enough to hold all the apple slices and the topping. If you use a dish that is too shallow, the topping may spill over while baking.

Cover with Foil:

To prevent the topping from burning and to help the apples cook more evenly, you should cover the baking dish with foil after 20 minutes of baking. This will allow the apples to cook through without the topping getting too brown.

Let it Cool:

Once the apple crisp is done, you should let it cool for at least 10-15 minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to thicken and the flavors to meld together. If you serve the apple crisp too soon, it may be too runny and the topping might not be as crisp as it should be.

Conclusion:

Apple crisp with corn flakes is a delicious dessert that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you are making it for a family gathering or a potluck, these tips will help you make the perfect apple crisp with corn flakes. Remember to choose the right apples, prep them properly, add some flavor to the mix, make a perfect topping and bake it at the right temperature. With these tips, you are guaranteed to make a delicious apple crisp with corn flakes that will impress everyone.
