Apple crisp is an all-time favorite dessert that is enjoyed by people of all ages, especially kids. Whether it's served as a snack, as a sweet treat after a meal, or on special occasions, apple crisp is a classic dessert that's loved by everyone. Making apple crisp is easy, but to make it truly memorable, there are some valuable tips that you can follow. In this article, we'll share with you some of the best tips to make apple crisp - and more apple crisp - that kids will love and enjoy.

Tip #1: Choose the Right Apples

The first step to making a great apple crisp is to choose the right apples. When making apple crisp, you want an apple that is crisp, firm, and not too sour or too sweet. Some of the best apples for making apple crisp include Jonathan, Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, and Braeburn apples. These apples hold their shape well when baked and don't become overly mushy.

Tip #2: Prep the Apples Properly

Once you've chosen the right apples, it's important to prep them properly. You should peel the apples, remove the core, and slice them into small, even pieces. You can use a mandoline or a sharp knife to slice the apples, depending on your preference. Make sure that the apple slices are of similar thickness so that they cook evenly in the oven. Once you've sliced the apples, toss them in a bowl with some lemon juice. This will prevent them from browning and give them a tangy flavor.

Tip #3: Use the Right Topping

The topping is what makes apple crisp a great dessert. To make a good topping, you need the right ingredients. You'll need flour, sugar, rolled oats, butter, and spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Mix these ingredients together in a bowl and then crumble the mixture with your fingers until it resembles coarse sand. This topping will give your apple crisp a sweet, nutty crunch that kids will love.

Tip #4: Add Extra Flavor

To make your apple crisp stand out, you can add some extra flavor to it. You can do this by adding chopped nuts such as pecans or walnuts to your topping mixture. This will add a nutty crunch to your apple crisp. You can also add raisins or dried cranberries to your apple mixture to give it a sweet, chewy texture. Alternatively, you can add some maple syrup or brown sugar to the topping mixture to give it a caramelized flavor.

Tip #5: Bake at the Right Temperature

Baking your apple crisp at the right temperature is essential to ensuring that it comes out perfectly. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake your apple crisp for 30-40 minutes. The exact baking time will depend on the thickness of your apple slices and the size of your baking dish. You'll know that it's done when the tops are golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbling.

Tip #6: Serve with the Right Pairing

To truly make your apple crisp an all-time favorite, it's important to serve it with a suitable pairing. You can serve your apple crisp with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Alternatively, you can drizzle some caramel sauce over your apple crisp for a decadent touch. You can also serve your apple crisp with a warm cup of apple cider or hot chocolate for a cozy treat.
Conclusion
In conclusion, making apple crisp and more apple crisp that kids will love is easy as long as you follow some simple but valuable tips. Choosing the right apples, prepping the apples properly, using the right topping, adding extra flavor, baking at the right temperature, and serving with the right pairing are all crucial steps to ensuring that your apple crisp is a hit with kids. With these tips, you can make apple crisp that's so delicious, your kids will be asking for more - all the time!
