  • Pour immediately over cooled cake. Sprinkle toasted pecans on top if desired.

CREAM CHEESE APPLE PIE QUESADILLA

Cream Cheese Apple Pie Quesadilla image

This is so good! The cream cheese melts into the apple pie filling, and tastes almost custardy. I usually use wheat tortillas and light cream cheese because that's what we have in the house.

Provided by 89240

Categories     Dessert

Time 5m

Yield 1 quesadilla

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 teaspoon butter, melted
1 medium white flour tortillas or 1 medium wheat flour tortilla
1 tablespoon cream cheese or 1 tablespoon light cream cheese
1/3 cup apple pie filling
cinnamon (optional)
whipped cream (optional)
powdered sugar (optional)
vanilla ice cream (optional)

Steps:

  • Spread cream cheese on one side of the tortilla, completely covering it, using more around the edges, as this will help seal in the pie filling.
  • Pour the filling on top of the cream cheese layer and cut apple slices into 1/2 inch pieces with a spoon or butterknife.
  • Sprinkle pie filling with cinnamon, if desired.
  • Fold tortilla over, gently pressing the edges to seal.
  • Brush one side with the melted butter, and put the tortilla, butter side down, into a skillet pre-heated to medium.
  • While that side is grilling, brush the unbuttered side with the remaining butter.
  • Grill until golden, flip, and grill the other side until golden.
  • Remove from skillet and serve with powdered sugar, whipped cream, ice cream, and additional cinnamon, if desired.

Apple cream cheese pie is a classic dessert that many people enjoy. The combination of sweet apples and tangy cream cheese is simply irresistible. However, making this pie can be challenging, especially for those who have never made it before. In this article, we will share valuable tips for making the best apple cream cheese pie.

Tips for making the crust

The crust is a crucial part of the pie as it holds everything together. Here are some tips for making the perfect crust:
Use cold ingredients
Cold ingredients are essential when making pie crust. When the butter or shortening is cold, it creates small pockets of air that expand when the pie is baked, resulting in a flaky crust. Similarly, cold water helps to prevent the dough from becoming too tough.
Don't overwork the dough
Overworking the dough can result in a tough crust, which is not desirable. When mixing the ingredients, use a light hand and mix only until the dough comes together.
Use a combination of butter and shortening
Using a combination of butter and shortening in the crust will result in a superior texture. Butter adds flavor and helps to create a flaky crust, while shortening provides tenderness.
Chill the dough
After making the dough, chill it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out. This will allow the gluten to relax and make it easier to roll out the dough.

Tips for making the filling

The filling is the star of the pie, and it's important to get it right. Here are some tips for making a delicious apple cream cheese pie filling:
Use the right apples
Not all apples are suitable for making pies. Some apples are too tart, while others are too mushy. The best apples for pies are firm and slightly tart, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn.
Precook the apples
To prevent the apples from turning into a mushy mess, precook them before adding them to the pie. Sauté them with some butter, sugar, and cinnamon until they are slightly softened.
Don't add too much sugar
When making the filling, it's important not to add too much sugar. The cream cheese adds sweetness to the pie, so it's best to keep the sugar to a minimum.
Add some spice
Cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice are essential spices for apple pie. Add a pinch of each to the filling to enhance the flavor of the apples.

Tips for assembling and baking the pie

The final step is to assemble the pie and bake it to perfection. Here are some tips to ensure that your apple cream cheese pie turns out perfectly:
Roll out the dough carefully
When rolling out the dough, be gentle and use a light touch. Roll it out on a floured surface until it's about 1/8 inch thick.
Prevent a soggy crust
To prevent the crust from getting soggy, brush the bottom of the crust with a beaten egg white before adding the filling.
Don't overfill the pie
Overfilling the pie can cause it to overflow and make a mess in the oven. Leave about half an inch of space at the top of the pie to allow for expansion during baking.
Bake at the right temperature
Bake the pie at 375°F for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Conclusion
