EASY CINNAMON APPLE RAISIN BREAD

Easy Cinnamon Apple Raisin Bread image

This is an easy and delicious bread to prepare. Even better you only need one mixing bowl because you can throw all of the ingredients right in! Feel free to tweak the ingredients to your liking...add more cinnamon...add nuts, etc. I hope you enjoy it! Edited: I have also tried out the bread by using 1/2 whole wheat pastry flour and 1/2 regular flour, a tbl of wheat germ and less sugar to make it a tiny bit "healthier". It came out just as nice as the original.

Monkey bread is a classic pastry that involves assembling small dough balls into a shape, either in a bundt pan or a loaf pan. The dough is often coated with cinnamon sugar before baking, resulting in a sweet and gooey treat that can easily be pulled apart. The addition of apples, cinnamon, raisins, and nuts adds a new dimension to the classic cinnamon sugar coating, resulting in a variant called apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread. This article will delve into the delicious world of this tasty and simple pastry.

The Dough

The dough used for monkey bread is traditionally made from scratch, involving yeast, sugar, butter, and flour. The dough is left to rise for several hours, resulting in a soft and pliable mixture that can then be formed into small balls. However, some recipes may involve the use of pre-made dough, such as canned biscuits, for a quicker preparation time.
The Filling
The addition of apples, cinnamon, raisins, and nuts adds a new layer of flavor to the classic monkey bread recipe. The apples add a fruity sweetness, while the cinnamon adds a warm and spicy element. Raisins add a chewy texture, and nuts provide a pleasant crunch. Some recipes may also include brown sugar and butter for added sweetness and richness.
Assembly
Once the dough and filling are prepared, it's time to assemble the monkey bread. The dough is divided into small pieces, usually the size of a golf ball. Each piece is then rolled in the filling mixture, ensuring that it is coated evenly. The coated dough balls are then placed into a pan, either a bundt pan or a loaf pan, in layers, with each layer separated by a drizzle of melted butter and a sprinkling of the filling.
Baking
After the monkey bread is assembled, it is left to rise for a final time before being baked in the oven for approximately 30-40 minutes. The bread is done when it is golden brown on the outside and cooked through on the inside. Before serving, the monkey bread is often drizzled with a glaze made from powdered sugar and milk, adding a final touch of sweetness.

Conclusion

Apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread is a delicious and easy-to-make pastry that is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a dessert. While the basic recipe involves assembling small balls of dough coated in cinnamon sugar, the addition of apples, cinnamon, raisins, and nuts takes this classic pastry to the next level. With a dough that can easily be made from scratch or using pre-made dough, and a relatively short baking time, this tasty treat is perfect for any occasion.
monkey bread is a sweet and delicious pastry that is loved by people of all ages. This dessert has a unique texture and taste that can make anyone fall in love with it instantly. Apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread is a perfect twist to the classic recipe. It has a perfect balance of sweetness and spiciness that can tantalize your taste buds. If you are planning to make apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread, then here are some valuable tips that can help you make the perfect pastry. Tip 1: Choose the Right Apples Apples are the star ingredient in apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread. Therefore, it is essential to choose the right type of apples for this recipe. The best apples for monkey bread are Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji apples. These apples have a sweet and tangy taste that compliments the cinnamon and raisin flavors used in the recipe. Moreover, these apples hold their shape well during baking, making them perfect for this recipe. Tip 2: Use Fresh Cinnamon Cinnamon is one of the most important ingredients in apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread. Therefore, it is essential to use fresh and high-quality cinnamon for this recipe. Fresh cinnamon has a strong and spicy flavor that can add depth and warmth to the pastry. You can either use cinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon for this recipe. However, if you are using ground cinnamon, make sure to use a fresh batch, as it can lose its flavor over time. Tip 3: Don't Be Afraid to Experiment with Nuts Nuts are another excellent ingredient that can add richness and texture to apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread. While pecans and walnuts are the most commonly used nuts in this recipe, don't be afraid to experiment with other types of nuts as well. Almonds, cashews, or hazelnuts can also work well with this recipe. Moreover, you can add other ingredients like shredded coconut or chocolate chips to the nut filling for a unique twist to this classic recipe. Tip 4: Use Dough Enhancers Dough enhancers are additives that can help improve the texture and structure of the dough. Adding dough enhancers to your apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread recipe can help make your pastry lighter, fluffier, and more tender. You can add ingredients like vitamin C powder, lecithin, or vital wheat gluten to your dough to enhance its quality. However, make sure to use the right amount of enhancer, as too much or too little can affect the dough negatively. Tip 5: Proof Your Dough Properly Proofing is an essential step in the apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread recipe. It is the process of letting the dough rise before baking, which can help improve the texture and flavor of the pastry. To proof your dough correctly, make sure to keep the dough in a warm, draft-free area for the right amount of time. Over-proofing or under-proofing can affect the texture and structure of the dough, resulting in a dense or tough pastry. Tip 6: Use a Bundt Pan for Baking Using a Bundt pan for baking your apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread can help achieve an even and uniform shape to your pastry. Moreover, it can help prevent the filling from spilling out while baking. Make sure to grease the Bundt pan well with butter or cooking spray to prevent the dough from sticking to the pan. You can also line the pan with parchment paper for easier removal after baking. Tip 7: Use an Instant-Read Thermometer Using an instant-read thermometer to check the internal temperature of your apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread can help ensure that the pastry is cooked thoroughly. The internal temperature of the pastry should be around 190-200°F before removing it from the oven. If the pastry is not cooked well, it can affect the texture and taste of the pastry. Tip 8: Let the Pastry Cool Before Serving Letting the apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread cool for a few minutes after baking can help the flavors meld together better. Moreover, it can prevent the pastry from falling apart while serving. Cool the pastry in the Bundt pan for 10-15 minutes before inverting it onto a serving plate. You can serve the pastry warm or at room temperature, depending on your preference. Conclusion: Apple cinnamon raisin nut filled monkey bread is a delicious and creative twist to the classic monkey bread recipe. With these valuable tips in mind, you can make the perfect pastry that is sweet, spicy, and loaded with flavor. Remember to use high-quality ingredients, proof your dough correctly, and bake it in a Bundt pan for even and uniform cooking. With these tips, you can make a pastry that is sure to impress your family and friends.
