Portable Apple & Cheese Pleasers image

Most unusual cookies, but very tasty. My SIL made this the first time about 25 years ago, the whole family loves it. Especially because of how little sugar is in it. I think that she got it from the Quaker Oats company back then.

When it comes to snacking, we all look for something that is delicious, easy to make and healthy. Cold appetizers are perfect for parties, gatherings or even for a quick bite. And if you are looking for something that is sweet and savory, apple cheese cinnamon snacks can be a great option. Here are some valuable tips to keep in mind when making these snacks:

Tip 1: Use fresh apples

Apples are the star ingredient of these snacks, and using fresh apples can make a significant difference in the taste and texture. Choose firm apples with smooth skin and no bruises. You can also choose different varieties of apples, such as Gala, Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, depending on your preference and availability. Make sure to wash and dry the apples before using them.

Tip 2: Choose the right cheese

Cheese is another crucial ingredient in apple cheese cinnamon snacks. Choosing the right type of cheese can enhance the flavor and texture of the snack. You can use cheddar cheese, brie, goat cheese or any other cheese that pairs well with apples. Soft cheeses are easier to spread, while hard cheeses can be grated or sliced thinly.

Tip 3: Add cinnamon for flavor

Cinnamon is the spice that gives these snacks their unique flavor and aroma. You can use ground cinnamon or cinnamon sticks, depending on how strong you want the cinnamon flavor to be. Sprinkle cinnamon on top of the cheese or mix it with the cheese for a more even flavor. You can also add other spices or herbs, such as nutmeg or thyme, for a different twist.

Tip 4: Use different toppings

Toppings can add texture and flavor to your apple cheese cinnamon snacks. You can use nuts, such as walnuts or pecans, for a crunchy texture. Dried fruit, such as raisins or cranberries, can add a sweet and chewy element. Honey or maple syrup can add a touch of sweetness, while bacon bits can add a savory flavor. Experiment with different toppings to find your perfect combination.

Tip 5: Slice and arrange the snacks properly

Presentation is key when it comes to appetizers. Slicing the apples and arranging the snacks in a visually appealing way can make a big difference. You can slice the apples thinly or in wedges, depending on the size of the snack. You can also cut the cheese into small cubes or slices for easier spreading. Arrange the snacks on a platter or a wooden board, and garnish with herbs or fruit for a pop of color.

Tip 6: Serve at the right temperature

Cold appetizers should be served cold, but not too cold. If the cheese is too cold, it can be hard to spread, and the apples can become too firm. Let the cheese sit at room temperature for a few minutes before assembling the snacks. You can also chill the snacks in the fridge for a while before serving, but make sure not to over-chill them.
Conclusion
Making apple cheese cinnamon snacks can be a fun and creative way to enjoy a delicious and healthy snack. By following these valuable tips, you can make sure that your snacks turn out perfectly every time. Experiment with different flavors and toppings, and have fun creating your own unique versions of this classic snack.
