APPLE BREAKFAST CAKE

Apple Breakfast Cake image

A quick yummy dish for brunch. Original recipe from Sunset October 2009 but I added the bacon and cheese on top. I don't have an ovenproof skillet so I cooked the butter, sugar, cinnamon and apples in a saucepan, poured the egg mixture in a greased 8" square glass casserole and poured the apple mixture on top. It worked fine. It'll serve six if you have other dishes available or armed guards at the buffet table.

Making an apple breakfast cake is a perfect way to start your day. It is an ideal meal to feed your family and friends during breakfast, brunch or even a snack. The cake is versatile and can be made in different variations and styles. Whether you prefer a sweet tooth or a healthy option, apple breakfast cake recipes are easy to make without spending too much time in the kitchen. Here are some valuable tips to make your apple breakfast cake recipe a success.

Tips to consider

1. Choosing the right type of apples
The type of apples you select plays a crucial role in the quality and taste of the apple breakfast cake. Ensure that you select apples that are firm, crisp, and slightly tart. Some of the recommended apple varieties for baking include the Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and the Braeburn. These types of apples bake well and retain their crispness when used in chunky forms.
2. Incorporate spices and flavors
Adding some spices and flavors into the mix not only adds delicious taste but also introduces a unique aroma into the air. Cinnamon and nutmeg are classic choices to include in an apple breakfast cake to give a warm and cozy feeling. Using lemon zest or orange zest as a recipe ingredient results in a bright and fresh taste that your taste buds will love. Do not be afraid to experiment with different flavors to find what works for you.
3. Do not overmix the batter
Overmixing batter will result in a tough and dense cake. Mix the batter only until the ingredients have combined correctly. Too much vigorous beating can make the gluten in the flour overdevelop and form tough strands. Mix the batter gently using a spatula to combine the ingredients thoroughly without overdoing it.
4. Measure ingredients correctly
Measuring ingredients is crucial when making an apple breakfast cake. Follow the recipe instructions religiously and ensure that you measure every ingredient correctly. Baking is a science, and having too much or too little of the recipe ingredients might lead to an unsatisfactory outcome.
5. Always preheat the oven
Preheating the oven is essential when baking cake. The oven should be at the right temperature when adding the batter to guarantee that the cake bakes evenly. Failing to preheat the oven results in an uneven cake cooked on the outside, with an undercooked middle.
6. Choose the right pan
Choosing the right pan is crucial when making an apple breakfast cake. A cake pan that is too small or too big might affect the texture and quality of the cake. A pan that is too small will cause the batter to overflow while a pan that is too big will give you a shallow cake. Choose a pan that is recommended by the recipe, and ensure that it is prepared correctly before adding the batter.
7. Use the right topping
Toppings add flavor and a visual representation of the cake. When making an apple breakfast cake, some of the toppings that you can include on top include fresh fruit slices such as apples, pears or strawberries. Alternatively, you can use whipped cream, glaze, or icing to give the cake a professional touch.
8. Let the cake cool
Once the cake is cooked, give it some time to cool down to room temperature. The cake can be placed on a wire rack to cool. Letting the cake cool helps to solidify the cake's structure, making it easier to slice into neat pieces.
9. Serve the cake warm
Serve the apple breakfast cake warm for a cozy and delicious experience. You can heat up individual slices in the microwave for about 10 seconds or warm the entire cake in the oven for 5 minutes. A warm cake pairs well with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.

Now that you have some valuable tips on how to make the perfect apple breakfast cake recipe, why not put them to good use?
