Valuable Tips for Making Apple Bourbon Chicken Wings

Chicken wings are a classic appetizer, and they take on a whole new level of deliciousness when they're combined with apple and bourbon! If you're thinking about making apple bourbon chicken wings, here are some valuable tips to keep in mind.
1. Pick the Right Cut of Chicken
When it comes to chicken wings, you have a few different options. Some people prefer to use whole wings, which include the drumettes and the flats. Others prefer to use only the drumettes. However, if you're making apple bourbon chicken wings, it's best to use the drumettes only. The reason for this is that the drumettes are meatier than the flats, and they'll hold onto the sauce much better. Plus, since you're adding a flavorful glaze, you want as much meat as possible to act as a vehicle for that glaze.
2. Use a Dry Rub
Before you start cooking your chicken wings, it's a good idea to season them with a dry rub. A dry rub is a mixture of spices that you rub onto the chicken wings to add flavor. For apple bourbon chicken wings, you might want to use a dry rub that includes brown sugar (for sweetness), paprika (for smokiness), and black pepper (for a little heat). Rub the dry rub onto the chicken wings and let them sit in the fridge for at least an hour (or overnight) to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
3. Make a Glaze
The key to apple bourbon chicken wings is the glaze. This is what will give your wings their distinct flavor and make them stand out from other chicken wings. To make a glaze for apple bourbon chicken wings, you'll need apple cider vinegar, bourbon, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Cook the glaze in a small saucepan until it thickens, and then use a brush to coat the chicken wings with the glaze as they cook.
4. Cook the Wings on a Grill or in an Oven
When it comes to cooking apple bourbon chicken wings, you have two main options: the grill or the oven. If you're using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat and then place the chicken wings on the grates. Cook them for about 15-20 minutes, flipping them occasionally and brushing them with the glaze as you go. If you're using an oven, preheat it to 400 degrees F and then place the chicken wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the wings for about 25-30 minutes, brushing them with the glaze every 10 minutes or so.
5. Garnish with Fresh Herbs
Once your apple bourbon chicken wings are cooked, it's time to add the finishing touches. One great way to elevate the presentation of your wings is to garnish them with fresh herbs. Try chopping up some fresh cilantro or parsley and sprinkling it over the top of your wings. The herbs will add a pop of color and a fresh flavor to your dish.
6. Serve with a Dipping Sauce
Finally, no chicken wings are complete without a dipping sauce! You might want to serve your apple bourbon chicken wings with a simple ranch or blue cheese dip, or you could try something different. For example, you might make a dipping sauce using the same glaze that you used on the chicken wings. Just reserve some of the glaze before you brush it onto the wings, and then heat it up in a saucepan until it thickens into a dipping sauce.

Conclusion

Apple bourbon chicken wings are a delicious and flavorful appetizer that's sure to impress your guests. By following these valuable tips, you'll be able to create a version of this classic dish that's perfect for your tastes. So grab some chicken wings, fire up the grill (or oven), and get cooking!
