16 ounce Betty Crocker Angel Food Cake Mix box {make sure to use the 'just add water' variety}
21 ounces Apple Pie Filling can ({or use homemade Apple Pie filling})
2 tsp. Cinnamon
Optional: Cool Whip for Topping

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large mixing bowl, stir powder cake mix, cinnamon, and pie filling together with a large wooden spoon.
  • Transfer mixture into 9x13 ungreased glass or ceramic baking dish. {Do NOT grease pan}
  • Bake for 30 - 35 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
  • After baking, it is completely normal for your cake to fall in the middle as it cools.
  • Cut into 12 squares, and top with optional whip cream and additional sprinkles of cinnamon on top. ENJOY!

1 ⅔ cups white sugar, divided
1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
½ cup table cream (18%)
⅓ cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Stir apples, 2/3 cup sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg together; distribute apple mixture into a 9x9-inch baking dish that is at least 2 inches deep.
  • Whisk flour, remaining 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl. Stir egg, cream and melted butter together in a cup; pour egg mixture into flour mixture and stir until all ingredients are moistened. Using the back of a spoon, spread batter over apple mixture to seal apples in completely.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown on top, about 50 minutes.

1-1/2 cups egg whites (about 10 eggs)
1-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup cake flour
1-1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
GLAZE:
1/3 cup butter, cubed
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 to 4 tablespoons apple juice or cider

Steps:

  • Place egg whites in a large bowl; let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Sift confectioners' sugar and flour together twice; set aside. , Add cream of tartar, vanilla and almond extract and salt to egg whites; beat on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar, about 2 tablespoons at a time, beating on high until stiff glossy peaks form and sugar is dissolved. Gradually fold in flour mixture, about 1/2 cup at a time., Gently spoon into an ungreased 10-in. tube pan. Cut through the batter with a knife to remove air pockets. Bake on the lowest oven rack at 375° for 35-40 minutes or until lightly browned and entire top appears dry. Immediately invert pan; cool completely, about 1 hour. , Run a knife around side and center tube of pan. Remove cake to a serving plate. , For glaze, melt butter in a small saucepan.
