Time 35m

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 15

cooking spray
1 (16 ounce) package frozen chicken nuggets
¼ cup butter
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground paprika
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon water, or more if needed
1 (11 ounce) package mini waffles (such as Kellogg's® Eggo®)
1 cup prepared slaw
20 small dill pickle slices

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Place 20 chicken nuggets in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Reserve any remaining nuggets for another use.
  • Bake nuggets in the preheated oven for 6 minutes. Flip and bake until crispy, 5 to 7 minutes more.
  • Meanwhile, prepare sauce: Heat butter, maple syrup, canola oil, brown sugar, paprika, cayenne, kosher salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and well combined, 3 to 5 minutes. If sauce thickens too much, reduce heat to low and whisk in 1 to 2 tablespoons water. Keep warm.
  • As the sauce is cooking, toast waffles, then separate each one into 4 mini waffles.
  • Assemble sliders: Place a chicken nugget on top of a waffle and top with 1 heaping teaspoon slaw. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon sauce, top with a pickle slice, and place a second waffle on top. Secure slider with a toothpick or skewer, if desired. Repeat to make remaining sliders. Serve with extra sauce.

Valuable Tips When Making Spicy Chicken Waffle Bites

Appetizer essentials can be made more exciting with a little bit of spice. In this article, we will provide some valuable tips on how to make the perfect spicy chicken waffle bites. This delicious appetizer is a crowd-pleaser and has the perfect combination of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors.
Prepare the Chicken
The first step in making spicy chicken waffle bites is preparing the chicken. You can use either chicken breast or chicken thighs, depending on your preference. Cut the chicken into small bite-sized pieces and season with salt, pepper, and your favorite spices. It's important to marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.

Tip: Use a Meat Tenderizer

To ensure that the chicken is tender and juicy, use a meat tenderizer to break down the fibers. This will also help the chicken cook evenly and prevent it from becoming tough.
Batter the Chicken
Once the chicken has been marinated, it's time to batter it. You can use either a traditional flour-based batter or a lighter, healthier option like almond flour. Mix together your batter ingredients and dip each piece of chicken into the mixture, ensuring that it is coated well.

Tip: Use Club Soda

For a lighter, crispier batter, use club soda instead of regular water. The carbonation in the club soda will create small bubbles in the batter, giving it a lighter texture.
Cook the Chicken
Now that the chicken is battered, it's time to cook it. You can either fry the chicken in a deep fryer or pan fry it in a shallow pan. It's important to cook the chicken until it is golden brown and crispy on the outside, and fully cooked on the inside.

Tip: Use a Thermometer

To ensure that the chicken is fully cooked, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. The temperature should be at least 165°F (74°C) before removing it from the heat.
Make the Waffles
While the chicken is cooking, you can start making the waffles. You can use either a traditional waffle iron or a mini waffle iron to create bite-sized waffles. Prepare your waffle batter and cook the waffles until they are golden brown and crispy.

Tip: Add Cheese

For extra flavor, add some shredded cheese to the waffle batter. This will give the waffles a gooey, cheesy texture that pairs perfectly with the spicy chicken.
Spice it Up
To add some heat to the dish, make a spicy sauce to drizzle over the chicken and waffles. You can use hot sauce, chili flakes, or chili powder to add some spice to the dish.

Tip: Use Honey

To balance out the heat, add some honey to the spicy sauce. This will give the dish a sweet and spicy flavor that is sure to impress your guests.
Assemble the Dish
Now that the chicken, waffles, and sauce are all prepared, it's time to assemble the dish. Place a piece of chicken on top of a mini waffle and drizzle the spicy sauce over the top. Garnish with some chopped scallions or cilantro for added flavor and color.

Tip: Use Toothpicks

To make the dish easy to eat, use toothpicks to secure the chicken and waffle together. This will also make it easier for guests to grab and go.
Conclusion
Spicy chicken waffle bites are a delicious and easy appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. Follow these valuable tips to make the perfect dish that is sure to impress your guests. Remember to experiment with different spices and flavorings to create your own unique recipe.
