For those of you who have eaten at Lawry's Prime Rib restaurant, you know they have not only the best prime rib, but the best creamed corn!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
2 tablespoons sugar
3 cups canned whole kernel corn (or fresh or frozen is okay)

Steps:

  • Melt butter in heavy saucepan.
  • Add flour and salt, stirring to blend.
  • Slowly add whipping cream, stirring constantly until thickened.
  • Add sugar and corn, heat.
  • For Au Gratin creamed corn, place corn in a 9 or 10 inch shallow casserole dish.
  • Sprinkle with 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese and brown under broiler.

2 packages (16 ounces each) frozen corn
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened and cubed
4 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped
1/4 cup butter, cubed
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • In a 3-qt. slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on low until corn is tender, stirring occasionally, 4-5 hours.

ANGRY CORN

My daughter's fiance christened this when he heard it sizzling in the pan. It makes a nice change from bland, and can be as spicy as you please.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 can(s) corn, 15 oz, drained
1 jar(s) pimento, 2 oz
1 tsp red pepper flakes
2 tsp minced garlic
2 Tbsp butter or margarine
1/8 tsp black pepper
dash sometimes i will add a bit of mrs dash original spice just for variety

Steps:

  • 1. Melt the butter on low heat until it's almost all melted.
  • 2. Add the corn and cook until the kernels start to brown. (Do not let them all brown, just a tiny bit is all that is needed.)
  • 3. Add the minced garlic and stir over the heat for 1 to 2 more minutes, or until the garlic starts to brown.
  • 4. Add the pimento and spices and cook 1 more minute, then turn the heat off, but leave it on the burner until ready to serve.
  • 5. Great with baked chicken or as an extra dish with the Thanksgiving turkey!
