Tips for Making Amish Cherry Cookies

Use quality ingredients
The taste and texture of your cookies will depend on the quality of ingredients you use. Make sure you use high-quality flour, sugar, baking powder, butter, eggs, and, most importantly, cherries. You can find high-quality cherries at specialty food stores or online.
Prepare your ingredients properly
Before you start making your cookies, make sure you have all your ingredients prepped and ready to go. This means you should have everything measured out, chopped or grated (if needed), and at room temperature before you start baking.
Use room temperature ingredients
Room temperature ingredients will blend better and create a better texture for your cookies. Having your eggs, butter, and other ingredients at room temperature will also help your cells expand, leading to a better texture overall.
Cream your butter and sugar together
The first step to making Amish cherry cookies is creaming your butter and sugar together. This process should take at least 3 minutes to get the perfect consistency. The sugar will help to whip air into the butter creating a fluffier cookie.
Add eggs one at a time
It is important to add your eggs one at a time to ensure that they blend well with the butter and sugar mixture. Be sure to mix well after each addition.
Don't overmix your dough
Overmixing your dough will cause your cookies to be tough and dry. Once you have added your dry ingredients, mix until just combined.
Chop cherries finely
For the perfect texture, make sure to chop your cherries finely. This will help to distribute the cherry flavor evenly throughout the cookie.
Wrap cookie dough in plastic wrap before chilling
To prevent the dough from drying out while chilling, wrap it in plastic wrap before refrigerating. This will also make it easier to work with when you are ready to bake your cookies.
Use a cookie scoop for portion control
Using a cookie scoop will give you uniform-sized dough balls, ensuring your cookies bake evenly. It will also help with portion control and give you perfect sized cookies every time.
Bake at the correct temperature
Baking at the correct temperature will ensure that your cookies are cooked evenly and have the perfect texture. Set your oven to 350°F and bake your cookies for approximately 12-14 minutes.
Cool your cookies on a wire rack
As soon as your cookies come out of the oven, transfer them to a wire rack to cool. This will prevent them from overcooking, and it will also help them cool down faster.
Store your cookies properly
Store your cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh. You can also freeze your cookies for up to three months by wrapping them in plastic wrap and placing them in a freezer-friendly container.

Conclusion

With these tips, you can make the perfect Amish cherry cookies every time. Remember to use high-quality ingredients, prep your ingredients properly, cream your butter and sugar together, and not overmix your dough. Chilling the dough and baking at the correct temperature are also crucial. By following these tips, you are sure to impress your friends and family with your delicious Amish cherry cookies.
