Categories     Afternoon tea, Treat

Time 50m

Yield Cuts into 16

Number Of Ingredients 5

200g butter , chopped, plus extra for the tin
250g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa solids), broken into small pieces
225g caster sugar
3 eggs
100g ground almonds

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Butter a 4cm-deep, 20 x 20cm square cake tin and line with baking parchment. Melt 200g of the chocolate together with the butter in a large heatproof bowl set over a pan of just simmering water (ensure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water), stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and leave to cool for 10 mins.
  • Meanwhile, whisk the sugar, eggs and a pinch of salt together in a large bowl until pale and foamy - it should look like a frothy milkshake. This will take 2-3 mins with an electric whisk, or about 5-8 mins with a balloon whisk. Pour in the butter and chocolate mixture along with the almonds, then fold everything together until there are no streaks of chocolate. Tip the mixture into the tin, scatter over the rest of the chocolate, and bake for 25 mins, until cooked with a slight wobble in the middle.
  • Leave to cool for 10 mins, then scoop into bowls and serve warm for a pudding. Alternatively, leave to cool completely in the tin, then cut into squares and store in an airtight tin. Will keep for up to five days.

Valuable Tips When Making Amazing Flourless Brownies

Are you looking for a healthier alternative to your regular brownie recipe? Flourless brownies are a great option for those who have gluten sensitivities, are following a low-carb or keto diet, or simply want a healthier dessert option. Skinnytaste.com offers several delicious flourless brownie recipes that are not only easy to make but also taste absolutely amazing. Here are some valuable tips to keep in mind when making amazing flourless brownies:
1. Choosing the Right Ingredients
When making flourless brownies, it's important to choose the right ingredients. Instead of relying on traditional all-purpose flour or other gluten-containing flours, these brownies are made with ingredients such as almond flour, coconut flour, or other nut flours. These flours are gluten-free and have a texture and flavor that works well in brownie recipes. In addition to using the right flour, make sure to use high-quality ingredients, like unsweetened cocoa powder, dark chocolate chips, and pure vanilla extract.
2. Measuring Accurately
When baking, it's important to measure ingredients accurately to ensure your recipe turns out perfectly. When making flourless brownies, a kitchen scale can be very helpful to ensure measuring flour and other ingredients is precise. When measuring flour, it's important to use a spoon to scoop the flour into the measuring cup and level it off with a knife. This ensures you don't accidentally scoop too much flour into the recipe, which can dry out the brownies.
3. Using a High-Quality Cocoa Powder
Cocoa powder is a key ingredient in most brownie recipes, and it's important to choose a high-quality unsweetened cocoa powder. Look for a powder that is labeled "Dutch-processed" or "alkalized," as this removes the acidity and creates a smoother, less bitter flavor. Quality cocoa powder also makes a difference in the appearance of the brownies. A darker, richer cocoa powder will result in a brownie with a beautiful deep brown color.
4. Don't Overmix the Batter
When making flourless brownies, it's important not to overmix the batter. Overmixing can create a tough, dry brownie. Only mix the ingredients until they are just combined, and be sure to stir in any add-ins, like chocolate chips or nuts, gently.
5. Using the Right Pan
The pan you use can make a big difference in the texture and appearance of your brownies. When making flourless brownies, it's important to use a quality pan, like a non-stick, heavy-duty aluminum pan, or a ceramic pan. Avoid using glass pans, as they can result in uneven baking, dried-out edges, and a less-than-perfect brownie. A 9x9 inch pan is the perfect size to bake these brownies.
6. Letting Them Cool Completely
Once your brownies are done baking, let them cool completely before slicing or serving. This allows the brownies to set and become fudgy, which is the desired texture for flourless brownies. If you cut into them too soon, they may fall apart or be too gooey in the middle.
7. Storing Them Properly
Storing your flourless brownies properly is important to maintain freshness and texture. You can store them at room temperature in an airtight container for up to three days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can also freeze them for up to three months. When thawing frozen brownies, let them come to room temperature before serving.

Conclusion

When it comes to making amazing flourless brownies, choosing the right ingredients, measuring accurately, using high-quality cocoa powder, not overmixing the batter, using the right pan, letting them cool completely, and storing them properly are all important factors to consider. With these valuable tips in mind, you'll be able to create delicious, healthier brownies that everyone will love. So get baking and enjoy your perfect flourless brownies!
