PIZZERIA PERFECT BLT PIZZA- MY OWN RECIPE

Pizzeria Perfect BLT Pizza- My Own Recipe image

I was challenged to make the perfect BLT pizza a few weeks ago. After looking at all of the recipes online, most were lacking a good sauce, and a good crust. Pizza without good sauce and crust just aren't worth making, in my book. The results were perfect the first go around... I wouldn't change a thing. The recipe is original...

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 recipe "perfect pizzeria pizza dough" or your own recipe
12 oz. maple pepper bacon, cut into 1 1/2 inch cuts. reserve 1 tb. plus 1 tsp. drippings. once cooked divided in half. (half is added before baking and half after baking.)
1 1/2 cups grape tomatoes, halved. reserve 1/2 cup for after baking.
1-2 cups shredded lettuce
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella or fresh mozzarella
sprinkle of yellow corn meal for pan, if desired
SAUCE INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup mayo, light or regular, doesn't matter
1 tb. olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. parsley
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. reserved bacon drippings

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare dough and let rise as per instructions. (This dough is very easy to make without the mess of having to knead it. Great, easy recipe.)
  • 2. Prepare sauce by mixing all ingredients thoroughly. Halve grape tomatoes and shred lettuce. Let come up to room temp. Reserve 1/2 cup grape tomatoes to top cooked pizza.
  • 3. Cut bacon in 1 1/2 inch chunks and fry until just before crisp, as you are going to be heating this one more time. Drain on paper towels. When the drippings have cooled slightly, add 1 tsp. drippings to sauce. Reserve an additional 1 TB. drippings.
  • 4. When dough is ready, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Use reserved 1 TB. bacon drippings to oil the pan in place of the olive oil that you may ordinarily use. (This little trick brings the smokey flavor of a BLT from the top of the pizza to the bottom.) Sprinkle with corn meal, if using. Spread out pizza dough with your hands.
  • 5. Top with sauce, then 1/2 of bacon, then cheddar and mozzarella, then 1 cup halved grape tomatoes, cut side up. (This keeps the juice in the skin instead of on the pizza.) Remember to reserve 1/2 cup grape tomatoes.
  • 6. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until done. (Optional tip: When I take my pizzas out of the oven, I combine a halved garlic clove and a few tablespoons of olive oil, microwave until warm and then brush on hot crust.) Add shredded lettuce, other half of bacon (warm in the micro for a few seconds) and reserved 1/2 cup tomatoes.
  • 7. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese and or red pepper flakes, if desired. Enjoy!

Great snack or appy for parties/get togethers. I use reduced-fat products, but feel free to use the full-fat versions. I recommend using diced grape tomatoes, since larger tomatoes can make to much liquid.

BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato) pizza is a delicious appetizer that is a favorite of many people around the world. The combination of crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, juicy tomato sauce, and melted cheese on a crusty pizza base is what makes this dish so savory. While the classic BLT pizza recipe is fairly simple, there are several ways in which you can make it unique and delicious. In this article, we will discuss some valuable tips you can use to make amazing BLT appetizer pizza recipes.

Tip #1 - Choose the Right Base

When making a BLT pizza, the base is one of the most important components. The crust should be crispy, not too thick, and not too thin. Some popular crust options to consider include a classic thin crust, a deep-dish crust, or even a cauliflower crust for those who are gluten-free. You can also experiment with different types of flour, such as whole wheat or spelt flour for a healthier alternative. Whatever the case may be, choose a base that suits your taste buds and complements the other ingredients in your recipe.

Tip #2 - Add Some Spice

If you want to give your BLT pizza recipe a little more taste, consider adding some spice. For example, you can sprinkle some red pepper flakes onto the pizza or add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the tomato sauce. You can also use spicy mayo instead of regular mayo, or even add some jalapeno peppers or chipotle peppers for an added kick. Be careful not to overdo it, however, as too much spice can be overwhelming.

Tip #3 - Use Quality Ingredients

One of the most important tips for making an amazing BLT appetizer pizza is to use quality ingredients. Choose the freshest lettuce, tomatoes, and bacon you can find. Use a high-quality cheese, such as mozzarella or cheddar, and make sure your tomato sauce is made from ripe, fresh tomatoes. You can also experiment with different types of cheeses, such as gouda or feta cheese, for a unique flavor.

Tip #4 - Experiment with Toppings

While the classic BLT pizza is made with bacon, lettuce, and tomato, you can experiment with different toppings to make it your own. For example, you can add some grilled chicken or shrimp to the pizza for some extra protein. You can also add some caramelized onions, mushrooms, or bell peppers to give it a little more texture and flavor. For a vegetarian option, you can even replace the bacon with some crispy tofu bacon or tempeh bacon.

Tip #5 - Add Some Herbs

Adding some fresh herbs to your BLT pizza can take it to the next level. Basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary are all great options that can add some fragrance and depth to the dish. You can add some fresh herbs to the tomato sauce, sprinkle some over the cheese, or even add them as a garnish.

Tip #6 - Experiment with Different Sauces

While tomato sauce is the classic sauce for a BLT pizza, there are several other options you can try. For example, you can use pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce for a different flavor. You can also use a white sauce, such as Alfredo sauce, or even barbecue sauce for a smoky flavor. Experimenting with different types of sauces can add a new dimension to your BLT appetizer pizza recipe.

Tip #7 - Crisp the Bacon

Crispy bacon is a must-have for any BLT pizza recipe. To ensure that your bacon is crispy, cook it on a skillet over medium heat until it is fully cooked. Make sure to remove any excess grease before using it on the pizza, as this can make the pizza soggy. You can also sprinkle some bacon bits over the pizza before baking for some extra flavor and texture.

Tip #8 - Choose the Right Cheese

The cheese you choose for your BLT pizza can make or break the dish. Opt for a cheese that is melty and has a strong flavor, such as mozzarella or cheddar. Avoid using a cheese that is too mild or too sharp, as this can overpower the other ingredients. You can also experiment with different types of cheeses, such as goat cheese or blue cheese, for a unique flavor.

Tip #9 - Don't Overload the Pizza

When making a BLT pizza, it can be tempting to add as many toppings as possible. However, adding too many ingredients can make the pizza soggy and difficult to eat. Stick to the classic ingredients, such as bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese, and add a few other toppings to make it unique. Make sure to spread the toppings out evenly on the pizza to ensure it bakes evenly.

Tip #10 - Customize to Your Tastes

Finally, the best tip for making an amazing BLT appetizer pizza is to customize it to your own tastes. Add your favorite ingredients, experiment with different flavors and sauces, and make it unique to your taste buds. BLT pizza is a versatile dish that can be customized in countless ways, so have fun with it and make it your own.
Conclusion
In conclusion, making an amazing BLT appetizer pizza is all about using quality ingredients, experimenting with different toppings and sauces, and customizing it to your own tastes. By following these valuable tips, you can make a delicious BLT pizza that is sure to impress your family and friends. So grab your apron and get ready to make a truly amazing BLT appetizer pizza!
