GLUTEN-FREE SHAKE AND BAKE ALMOND CHICKEN

Gluten-Free Shake and Bake Almond Chicken image

This is my go-to recipe when I'm in a hurry. It's so easy, and yet so good. Because of the coating, the chicken is always extra juicy. Kids can't tell they're nuts (looks like breading) and love it. It's healthy (and grain-free for those with allergies). Everyone asks me for the recipe...that's my cue to add it to Allrecipes!

ALMOND BANANA SHAKE

Almond Banana Shake image

Based on a recipe from Carol Alt's cookbook, The Raw 50. She says in its introduction, ".... As Dr. Gonzalez notes in his foreword, germinated almonds may help protect against cancer. (They supposedly have estrogen blockers.) That is why I eat them and include them in every meal I can." Almond milk is a non-dairy milk made out of almonds; you can find ready-made almond milk in your grocer's natural foods section. I have made this with purchased almond milk; recipe #356213 is a delicious homemade almond milk! :)

ALMOND, SUNFLOWER AND BERRIES SHAKE

Almond, Sunflower and Berries Shake image

Being an excellent source of protein, the nuts and seeds in this shake make it a nourishing breakfast that will help you re-charge so that you are ready to meet the demands of the day ahead. Soaking the nuts and seeds overnight increases their digestibility and therefore the healthfulness of this shake. Just drain off the water the nuts have soaked in overnight before making your shake with clean water and the other ingredients. This shake will obviously be more nutritious if you use organic nuts, seeds and fruits. Adapted from a recipe on Dr Joseph Mercola's website, together advice from my naturopath.

Time 5m

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 tablespoons organic almonds
2 tablespoons organic sunflower seeds
2 tablespoons organic flax seeds
3 cups water, filtered (11/2 cups if using juice)
1/2 cup fresh apple juice
1/2 cup fresh blueberries or 1/2 cup raspberries
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Steps:

  • If you have soaked the nuts and seeds overnight, use a small sieve to drain off the water.
  • In a blender or processor with the lid on, process the almonds, sunflower and flax seeds on high, until they are coarsely ground.
  • Pour in filtered water slowly at first, so that the blades reduce the ingredients to a thick consistency.
  • Add the remaining liquid and continue blending.
  • Add apple juice, banana or berries, vanilla extract and nutmeg, and blend until frothy. Pour into a glass and drink immediately.
  • Health Tip: If you suffer from fatigue at any time during the day when the demands of work do not permit a siesta break, keep a small container of almonds with you at all times. Even half a dozen almonds will give you that much-needed energy boost. Bananas are pretty good in the same way but almonds are more portable and sometimes eating a banana just isn't an option!

Almond shake recipes are an excellent treat for those who love healthy and tasty drinks. These recipes are easy to prepare, and they only require a few ingredients to make. Almond shakes are famous worldwide for their delicious taste and numerous health benefits. They are a great way to include essential nutrients such as protein, healthy fats, fiber, and calcium in your diet. However, to make the best almond shake, you need to know a few valuable tips. In this article, we will discuss some tips that can help you make the perfect almond shake. Tip 1: Choose fresh almonds The first tip is to always choose fresh almonds. Fresh almonds not only taste better, but they are also packed with nutrients. Stale almonds may have lost their flavor and can be less nutritious. When buying almonds, choose the ones that have a uniform color and texture, and avoid any with blemishes. If possible, buy almonds in the shell because they will stay fresh longer. Tip 2: Soak the almonds Soaking almonds before using them is an essential step. Soaking almonds helps to make them softer and easier to blend. Soaking also makes the almonds more digestible, which increases the absorption of vitamins and minerals. You should soak the almonds for at least 8 hours or overnight. After soaking, rinse them thoroughly and peel off the skin. The skin can be tough to digest and may result in an upset stomach. Tip 3: Use a high-quality blender Using a high-quality blender is essential for making extra smooth and creamy almond shakes. A poor-quality blender may not blend the almonds completely and can result in a grainy texture. Invest in a powerful blender that can handle blending frozen fruits, seeds, and ice. If you are using frozen fruits, chop them into small pieces to ensure or even blend. Tip 4: Add liquid to your almond shake When preparing an almond shake, it is essential to add a liquid base to make it easier to blend. You can choose to use water, milk, coconut water, or any other liquid of your choice. The liquid base helps to dilute the thick consistency of the almonds and makes it easier to blend them. The amount of liquid you use will determine how smooth or thick your almond shake will be; you can adjust it according to your preference. Tip 5: Add your favorite sweetener Almond shakes can be less sweet, and you may need to add a sweetener to enhance their taste. If you prefer a natural sweetener, you can use dates or honey. Maple syrup, agave syrup, and stevia are also great options. Be cautious when using sweeteners, as it is easy to over sweeten the shake, altering the real taste of the almonds. Tip 6: Add flavor to your almond shake Adding flavor to your almond shake is an excellent way to enhance its taste. You can add spices such as cinnamon or nutmeg, which add warmth and depth to the shake. Vanilla extract can also be added for a subtle, sweet taste, and measured amounts of cocoa powder for a chocolate taste. Tip 7: Add ice Adding ice to your almond shake is optional. However, Ice helps to create a thick and frosty shake, especially when blended with frozen fruits. It also makes the shake refreshing, especially in warm weather. Conclusion: Making an almond shake is easy, and it’s a great way to add essential nutrients to your diet while enjoying your favorite drink. However, following the tips above is essential in ensuring that the shake is smooth, creamy, and delicious. These tips will help you create a shake with a consistent flavor and texture every time. Remember, you can always adjust the ingredients to suit your preference, and experimentation is encouraged. So, go ahead and make yourself a delicious creamy almond shake!
