Homemade Cherry Dessert Pizza image

Provided by Brandie @ The Country Cook

Categories     Dessert

Number Of Ingredients 15

3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons salted butter
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant dry yeast
2 cups all-purpose flour
21 ounce can cherry pie filling
1 large egg, (beaten)
6 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) salted butter, (cut into cubes)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons sliced almonds
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Place the milk and butter in a small pot and heat just until butter is melted. Alternatively, you can use the microwave for about 40 seconds.
  • Place the warmed milk into the bowl of a stand mixer and add the sugar, yeast, salt and flour.
  • With a dough hook attached, turn on the mixer and mix until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and forms a ball.
  • Turn it onto a floured surface and knead 3-4 times, just enough to smooth it out. Return to the bowl, cover and let rest 30 minutes. While the dough is resting you can make the streusel.
  • In a small bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon and butter, then work the butter into the dry ingredients with your fingers until it resembles crumbs. Stir in the sliced almonds.
  • Preheat oven to 400F degrees. When the dough has finished resting, turn it out onto a floured surface and roll it into a 12-inch circle.
  • Spray a baking sheet or pizza pan with non-stick spray. If you are using a seasoned pizza stone you can skip this step.
  • Move the dough to the pizza pan and spread the cherry pie filling over the dough leaving about 1-inch around the edge.
  • Brush the bare edge with the beaten egg, then sprinkle the streusel over the top of the pizza.
  • Place on center rack of the oven and bake 25-30 minutes until edge of dough is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool before adding icing.
  • Mix the powdered sugar and cream in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Drizzle icing on top of the cooled pizza, cut into slices and serve.

If you want to make the perfect almond cherry pizza, there are several tips that you should keep in mind. This article will provide you with valuable tips on how to make almond cherry pizza recipes that are delicious and perfect for any occasion.

Tip #1: Use High-Quality Ingredients

One of the essential tips for making the perfect almond cherry pizza is to use high-quality ingredients. The quality of the ingredients you use determines the taste of the pizza. The crust, toppings, and the cherries should be of the best quality. When making the crust, it's important to use high-quality flour, yeast, and other ingredients. The toppings should also be fresh and of the best quality. For the cherries, it's recommended to use fresh cherries, but if they're not available, you can use frozen ones.
Choosing the Right Flour
When making the crust, it's important to choose the right flour. For almond cherry pizza, you should use all-purpose flour or bread flour. These flours are perfect for making a crust that is crispy and golden brown.
Choosing the Right Yeast
Using the right yeast is also essential when making the crust. You can use instant yeast or active dry yeast. However, it's recommended to use instant yeast as it doesn't require proofing, and it's faster.
Fresh Cherries vs. Frozen Cherries
Fresh cherries are the best option for almond cherry pizza. They have a better taste and texture. However, if fresh cherries are not available, you can use frozen cherries. It's important to thaw them and drain the juices before using them to prevent the crust from getting soggy.

Tip #2: Prep The Ingredients Beforehand

Another tip for making the perfect almond cherry pizza is to prep the ingredients beforehand. This includes preparing the crust, the almond filling, and cutting the cherries. When preparing the crust, you should mix the ingredients and knead the dough for at least 5 minutes. This ensures that the crust is uniform and the dough is mixed well. Once the dough is ready, you can let it rest for 10 minutes before rolling it out. The almond filling should also be prepared beforehand. It's a simple mixture of almond paste, butter, sugar, and egg. Mixing these ingredients and letting the mixture chill for at least 30 minutes makes it easier to spread on the crust. The cherries should be pitted and sliced beforehand. This saves time and ensures that the pizza is ready to be assembled.

Tip #3: Use A Preheated Oven

One of the most important tips for making almond cherry pizza is to use a preheated oven. This ensures that the pizza cooks evenly and the crust is crispy. It's recommended to preheat the oven to 425°F before baking the pizza. This temperature is perfect for cooking the crust and the almond filling while ensuring that the cherries don't become too soft.

Tip #4: Use Parchment Paper

Using parchment paper is another useful tip for making almond cherry pizza. The parchment paper prevents the pizza from sticking to the baking sheet, making it easier to remove. It's recommended to cut the parchment paper to fit the baking sheet, then place the rolled-out dough on top. This makes it easier to transfer the pizza to the oven without the toppings falling off.

Tip #5: Decorate The Pizza

Another tip for making almond cherry pizza is to decorate it with the sliced cherries. This not only makes the pizza look more appealing but also adds flavor. After spreading the almond filling on the crust, you can add the sliced cherries. Once the pizza is baked, the cherries become slightly caramelized and add a sweet and tart flavor to the pizza.

Conclusion

Making almond cherry pizza is easy if you follow the right tips. Using high-quality ingredients, prepping the ingredients beforehand, using a preheated oven, using parchment paper, and decorating the pizza are valuable tips that ensure that your almond cherry pizza is perfect. With these tips, you can make a delicious and mouth-watering almond cherry pizza that everyone will love.
