Categories     Breakfast

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 15

18 slices bread, white sandwich bread
3 tablespoons butter, softened
18 slices swiss cheese
12 slices ham
4 cups spinach
6 eggs
chive, chopped, to serve
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 pinch ground nutmeg
2 cups gruyère cheese, grated
2 cups grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven broiler to high. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • On a cutting board, butter all the sandwich bread and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Using a glass, cut out the centers of 6 slices of bread.
  • Toast the bread under the broiler for 5 minutes, or until toasted. Keep a close eye on it so it doesn't burn.
  • Reduce the oven temperature to 350˚F (180˚C).
  • Make the Béchamel sauce: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk until it darkens slightly.
  • Add the milk and whisk to combine. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until reduced by half.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and add the salt, pepper, nutmeg, Gruyère, and Parmesan and stir until fully incorporated.
  • Line a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Lay 6 pieces of toast in the bottom of the dish. Top with 9 slices of Swiss cheese, 6 slices of ham, and 2 cups of spinach. Repeat to make another layer and top with the hollow-centered toast.
  • Crack an egg into each hole. Carefully ladle the Béchamel sauce over the bake, leaving the yolks exposed.
  • Cover and bake for 35 minutes, then uncover and bake for 10 minutes more, until the eggs are cooked to your liking and the Béchamel is starting to brown in spots.
  • Slice and serve garnished with chives, if desired.
  • Enjoy!

However, creating these baked egg dishes can be tricky if you are not equipped with the right tips and tricks. In this article, we will explore some valuable tips when making "all the glory layered egg bake recipes".

Tip #1: Use the right equipment

Making an egg bake requires the right equipment. One of the most important equipment is a lined baking dish. This will prevent the egg bake from sticking and make it easy to clean up after cooking. Non-stick silicone liners or parchment paper are great options. Another important equipment is a whisk to whisk the eggs and get the proper texture.

Tip #2: Choose the right ingredients

Choosing the right ingredients is key to making a great egg bake. You want to choose ingredients that will enhance the flavor of the eggs and create a harmonious dish. Vegetables like spinach, onions, and bell peppers are great options, as are meats like bacon, turkey, and sausage. Cheeses also add great depth of flavor to your egg bake. Choose a variety of cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, and feta.

Tip #3: Prepare your ingredients beforehand

Preparing your ingredients beforehand will make creating the egg bake a breeze. You can chop vegetables and cook meats the night before and store them in the fridge. This will save you a lot of time and hassle in the morning when you are trying to cook breakfast.

Tip #4: Add flavor to your egg mixture

The egg mixture is the base of your egg bake, so it's important to add flavor to it. You can add spices like salt, pepper, cumin, and paprika to give it a kick. You can also add herbs like parsley, basil, and thyme to give it a fresh taste. Don't forget to whisk the eggs thoroughly to create a light and fluffy texture.

Tip #5: Layer your ingredients properly

Layering your ingredients properly is important to create a cohesive dish. Start with a layer of vegetables on the bottom, followed by a layer of meat, and then a layer of cheese. Repeat this process until you have used up all your ingredients. Pour the egg mixture over the layers and use a fork to make sure the mixture seeps into the layers. This will create a deliciously layered texture.

Tip #6: Bake at the right temperature

Baking at the right temperature is important to get the perfect texture. Preheat your oven to 350°F and bake your egg bake for 25-30 minutes. Check the egg bake regularly to make sure it doesn't overcook. If it starts to brown too much on the top, cover it with foil and continue baking.

Tip #7: Don't be afraid to experiment

Finally, don't be afraid to experiment with different ingredients and flavors. Egg bakes are versatile and can be customized to your liking. Try using different vegetables or meats, or use a different type of cheese to mix things up. You never know what delicious dish you can create by experimenting.

Conclusion:

Making "all the glory layered egg bake recipes" can be a fun and delicious way to start your day.
