2 tablespoons lemon juice
4 cups water
4 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
1 (17.25 ounce) package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Combine the lemon and 4 cups water in a large bowl. Place the sliced apples in the water to keep them from browning.

Cook for another minute, or until sauce has thickened. Remove from heat to cool slightly.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Unfold puff pastry sheets, and repair any cracks by pressing them back together. Trim each sheet into a square. Then cut each larger square into 4 smaller squares. Spoon apples onto the center of each squares. Fold over from corner to corner into a triangle shape, and press edges together to seal. Place turnovers on a baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between them.
  • Bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until turnovers are puffed and lightly browned. Cool completely before glazing.
  • To make the glaze, mix together the confectioners' sugar, milk and vanilla in a small bowl. Adjust the thickness by adding more sugar or milk if necessary. Drizzle glaze over the cooled turnovers.

Aisha's Apple Puff Pastries Recipes

Apple puff pastries are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that can be enjoyed any time of the year. Aisha, an experienced pastry chef, has perfected the art of making the perfect apple puff pastries. Her recipes are made with simple ingredients, but they pack a flavor punch that will leave your taste buds begging for more!

Ingredients

One of the best things about Aisha's apple puff pastries recipe is that it requires only a handful of ingredients, most of which are likely already available in your kitchen. For the pastry, you will need flour, unsalted butter, salt, sugar, vanilla essence, and cold water. For the filling, you'll need apples (a mixture of tart and sweet varieties), sugar, cinnamon, salt, and butter. You can also add raisins, nuts, or other fruits to the filling if you like.

Preparation

The preparation process for Aisha's apple puff pastries recipe starts with making the pastry dough. First, mix together the flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Cut the unsalted butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, mix the butter and flour until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Add a few drops of vanilla essence and cold water to the mixture, and knead lightly until the dough comes together. Wrap the dough in cling film and place it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

While the dough chills, you can prepare the apple filling. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small pieces. In a pan, melt the butter and add the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and any other fruits or nuts you'd like to add. Cook the mixture over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are slightly softened. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool.

Assembly

Once the dough and the apple filling are ready, it's time to assemble the apple puff pastries. Preheat your oven to 200°C. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut the dough into equal-sized rectangular pieces, about 12 cm x 8 cm. Place a spoonful of the cooled apple filling in the center of each piece of dough. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges by pressing down with a fork. Place the pastry on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the top of the pastries with an egg wash and sprinkle some sugar on top, if desired.

Bake the apple puff pastries in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the pastries from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top of the pastries, and serve them warm or at room temperature.

Variations

Aisha's apple puff pastries recipe is not set in stone, and there are many ways to customize it to your liking. You can change the spices in the filling, swap out the apples for other fruits, or even change the shape of the pastry. For example, you can cut the dough into circles and make mini apple turnovers, or roll out the dough into a large rectangle and make a giant apple strudel.

Adding a touch of cream or custard to the filling, or drizzling some caramel sauce over the top of the pastries, can make them even more indulgent. If you're feeling adventurous, try adding a sprinkle of sea salt or some chopped herbs to the filling or pastry dough for a savory twist.

Conclusion

Aisha's apple puff pastries recipe is a delicious and versatile dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With a few simple ingredients and some creativity, you can make a dessert that's sure to impress your guests. Whether you're making them as a sweet snack or a decadent dessert, apple puff pastries are a treat that everyone will love.
