AIR FRYER SALMON WITH SPICY PEACH GLAZE

Air Fryer Salmon with Spicy Peach Glaze image

A quick and tasty dinner for two can be ready in minutes! Fresh or thawed frozen salmon filets are air-fried, then coated with a sweet-spicy glaze. Add some sesame seeds, sliced scallions, and a light squeeze of lemon juice for extra flavor, if you like. We like these with a steamed green vegetable and rice, or roasted potatoes and a salad. With either menu, it's great for a quick and elegant meal on a weeknight, or for an easy start to the weekend. Want to serve four people? Simply double the recipe, and adjust the cook time by a couple of minutes.

Provided by Bibi

Time 20m

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 12

¼ cup all fruit, no sugar added peach preserves
1 clove garlic, minced
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon Asian chili garlic sauce, or to taste
2 teaspoons lemon juice
aluminum foil
cooking spray
2 (6 ounce) fillets salmon (1-inch thick)
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
½ teaspoon sesame seeds
1 medium green onion, thinly sliced
lemon juice (optional)

Steps:

  • Stir peach preserves, minced garlic, powdered ginger, chili garlic sauce, and lemon juice together in a microwave-safe bowl until blended. Microwave on high for 30 to 35 seconds, or until boiling. Carefully remove from the microwave and stir again; set aside.
  • Create a foil sling for the air fryer by cutting a piece of foil wide enough to cover the bottom of the air fryer basket and go up two sides about 2" inches. Spray the foil with cooking spray and place in the basket. Poke a few holes in the foil to align with the holes in the basket to allow airflow.
  • Season both sides of the salmon fillets with salt and pepper and place on the foil sling. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
  • Air fry at 390 degrees F (198 degrees C) for 8 minutes. Test for doneness with an instant read thermometer. Farmed salmon is "medium" at 125 degrees F (51 degrees C), and wild salmon is "medium" at 120 degrees F (48 degrees C). If needed, add air frying time in 3-minute increments, until salmon reaches preferred doneness.
  • Lift the salmon filets from the air fryer using the sides of the foil sling.
  • To serve, pour prepared glaze over fillets and use the remainder of the glaze as a sauce. Sprinkle fillets with sesame seeds and green onions and drizzle with lemon juice.

Air fryer salmon with spicy peach glaze is a delicious and healthy meal that can be quickly prepared in an air fryer. Air frying salmon is an excellent method of cooking, especially for people who are trying to reduce their oil intake while still enjoying a tasty and nutritious meal. In this article, we will provide you with valuable tips for making air fryer salmon with spicy peach glaze recipes.

Tips for Preparing Air Fryer Salmon

Choose High-Quality Salmon

The quality of the salmon used in this recipe can greatly affect the overall taste and texture. We recommend using wild-caught salmon as it is higher in omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for heart health. Additionally, choose a salmon fillet that is at least 1 inch thick to ensure even cooking.

Pat the Salmon Dry

Before cooking the salmon in the air fryer, it's important to pat it dry with a paper towel. This will remove any excess moisture, allowing the salmon to cook more evenly and achieve a crispy texture.

Season the Salmon

Although salmon has a delicious natural flavor, it's always good to add some seasoning to enhance its taste. You can sprinkle some salt and pepper on each side of the salmon or use a marinade of your choice.

Preheat the Air Fryer

Before cooking the salmon, preheat your air fryer for a few minutes. This will ensure that the air fryer is at the proper temperature before adding the salmon. The recommended temperature for air frying salmon is 375°F.

Coat the Air Fryer Basket with Cooking Spray

Spray some cooking oil on the air fryer basket to prevent the salmon from sticking to the basket. This will also help in achieving an even and crispy texture.

Tips for Making Spicy Peach Glaze

Use Fresh Peaches

To make a delicious and authentic spicy peach glaze, use fresh peaches. Canned peaches tend to be too sweet and syrupy, and may not provide the desired flavor and texture.

Add Spices for an Extra Kick

Although the peach glaze has a sweet and tangy flavor, adding some extra spices can add depth and a spicy kick to the recipe. Consider adding some red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the glaze for a fiery touch.

Add Some Acid

Adding a little bit of acid to the peach glaze can help balance out the sweetness of the peaches. Lemon juice or apple cider vinegar can be added to the glaze, allowing for a more complex and balanced flavor.

Simmer the Glaze

Once all the ingredients have been combined in a saucepan, simmer the mixture on low heat for about 15-20 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld together, resulting in a delicious and smooth glaze.

Tips for Air Frying Salmon with Spicy Peach Glaze

Add the Glaze After the Salmon Has Cooked

To prevent the peach glaze from burning and sticking to the air fryer basket, it is recommended to add the glaze to the salmon after it has been cooked. Simply brush the glaze over the cooked salmon and place it back in the air fryer for a few minutes to allow the glaze to caramelize.

Use a Basting Brush

A silicone basting brush is a handy tool to apply the peach glaze onto the salmon fillet. Instead of using a spoon, a basting brush allows for a more even coating of the glaze, resulting in a more consistent and flavorful dish.

Keep an Eye on the Salmon

Although air frying is a quick and convenient cooking method, it's essential to regularly check on the salmon while it's cooking to prevent overcooking or undercooking. Depending on the thickness of the salmon fillet, it may take between 8-12 minutes to cook.

Conclusion

Air fryer salmon with spicy peach glaze is a healthy and delicious meal that can be quickly and easily prepared in an air fryer. By using high-quality salmon and fresh peaches, adding some seasoning to the salmon, and simmering the peach glaze, you can create a flavorful dish that is sure to impress. Remember to keep an eye on the salmon while cooking in the air fryer and to add the glaze after the salmon has been cooked. With these valuable tips, you'll be well on your way to making a mouth-watering air fryer salmon with spicy peach glaze dish that your family and friends will love!
