Tips for Making Air Fryer Peppermint Lava Cakes

Choose Good Quality Chocolate

The chocolate you use can make or break your lava cake, so it’s important to choose a good quality one. Look for a chocolate bar that is at least 60% cocoa content. This will ensure that your chocolate has more flavor and richness that will elevate your dessert. Avoid using chocolate chips as they have added fillers that can affect the texture of the chocolate.

Use Room Temperature Ingredients

Using room temperature ingredients can help your ingredients mix better and more evenly, which can lead to better texture and a more beautiful appearance for your cakes. Butter, eggs, milk, and cream cheese should be taken out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before you start baking.

Grease Your Ramekins

Greasing your ramekins is crucial to ensure that the cakes do not stick and come out of the ramekins easily. You can use a cooking spray or use butter to grease it. Make sure to coat it evenly and up to the rim of the ramekin.

Use a Cooking Thermometer

Different air fryers have different heating rates, so it’s best to use a cooking thermometer to make sure that the cakes are cooked properly. Insert the thermometer into the center of the cake and check the temperature. The temperature should be between 185°F to 190°F for the perfect lava texture.

Let the Cakes Cool Before Removing from the Ramekins

It’s crucial to let the cakes rest for about 5 minutes before removing them from the ramekins. This will allow the cakes to cool slightly and will make it much easier to remove them from the ramekins. Gently run a knife around the edges of the cakes before turning them onto your serving dish.

Serve with Ice Cream or Whipped Cream

To balance the richness of the chocolate, consider serving your air fryer peppermint lava cakes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or dollop of whipped cream. It will give your dessert a nice contrast of sweetness and coolness that will make it even more enjoyable.
