1 ¼ cups self-rising flour
1 cup fat-free Greek yogurt (such as Fage®)
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
8 ounces thinly sliced deli ham
1 large egg, beaten
1 teaspoon water
nonstick cooking spray

  • Spread dough pieces with Dijon mustard and evenly top with Swiss cheese followed by ham slices, folded to fit. Pull up the long sides of the dough until they meet, and then pinch and seal. Tuck the ends under on the bottom, pinching and closing up dough pockets. Whisk together egg and water in a small bowl and brush egg wash onto the dough pockets.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees F (180 degrees C) for 3 minutes. Lightly coat the air basket with cooking spray or line with a parchment liner.
  • Place dough pockets in the basket seam side down, being sure they're not touching.

In today's fast-paced world, everyone wants quick and easy meals that are not only delicious but also nutritious. Air fryers have revolutionized cooking by making it possible to cook a variety of meals in a simple and healthy way. One such meal is the air fryer ham and egg pockets. However, to make the perfect air fryer ham and egg pockets, you need to know a few valuable tips that will make the process easier and more efficient.

Tip 1 - Don't Overstuff:

The first valuable tip when making air fryer ham and egg pockets is to avoid overstuffing. It may be tempting to put as much ham, egg, and cheese into the pocket as you can, but this will only cause the pockets to burst open during cooking, leaving you with a mess to clean up in the air fryer. Instead, opt for a small to a medium-sized pocket, which will ensure that the fillings are evenly distributed and the pocket will cook evenly.

Tip 2 - Use The Right Pastry:

Another valuable tip when making air fryer ham and egg pockets is to use the right pastry. The pastry you choose can significantly affect the outcome of your pockets. You can use pre-made puff pastry or crescent rolls for an easy option, but be sure to use a flaky pastry that will hold up during cooking. Avoid using thin, flimsy pastries that may become soggy during cooking as this can lead to a mess in the air fryer.

Tip 3 - Preheat Your Air Fryer:

Preheating your air fryer is another valuable tip when making ham and egg pockets in an air fryer. Preheating your air fryer ensures that your pockets cook evenly and are cooked to perfection. If you do not preheat your air fryer, your pockets may end up overcooked or undercooked, and this can ruin the taste and texture of your meal.

Tip 4 - Grease The Basket:

Greasing the basket of your air fryer is another valuable tip that you should keep in mind when making ham and egg pockets in an air fryer. The pockets can stick to the basket and, if they do, they can tear apart when you try to remove them, leaving you with an unappetizing mess. To avoid this, you should lightly grease the basket of your air fryer before putting your pockets in to cook.

Tip 5 - Use the Right Temperature:

Using the right temperature is another valuable tip when making ham and egg pockets in an air fryer. The temperature you choose can significantly affect the outcome of your pockets. Too high temperature can cause the pockets to burn on the outside while remaining uncooked on the inside. On the other hand, too low temperature can result in the pockets taking too long to cook and may become soggy. You should aim for a temperature of between 350°F to 375°F for the perfect air fryer ham and egg pockets.

Tip 6 - Know Your Air Fryer's Capacity:

Knowing your air fryer's capacity is another valuable tip when making ham and egg pockets in an air fryer. Air fryers come in different sizes and can vary in capacity. It is essential to know your air fryer's capacity so that you can adjust the recipe accordingly. Overcrowding your air fryer can result in your pockets not cooking evenly or taking too long to cook.

Tip 7 - Experiment with Fillings:

Finally, experimentation with fillings is another valuable tip when making ham and egg pockets in an air fryer. While ham and egg pockets are delicious, you can experiment with different types of fillings to switch things up. You can try bacon and egg pockets, sausage and egg pockets, or even vegetarian options using vegetables like spinach, feta cheese and egg pockets.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, making air fryer ham and egg pockets is an excellent way to have a quick and nutritious meal. However, to make the perfect air fryer ham and egg pockets, you must keep in mind the valuable tips discussed in this article. Remember to avoid overstuffing, use the right pastry, preheat your air fryer, grease the basket, use the right temperature, know your air fryer's capacity and most importantly, experiment with different fillings.
