Air Fryer Cauliflower Buffalo Wings Recipe by Tasty image

Meet your newest air fryer obsession. These cauliflower buffalo wings are super crunchy, packed with flavor, and the perfect healthier alternative to traditional wings. We use cake flour instead of all-purpose flour for a lighter, crunchier breading. However, if you're in a pinch, you can use all-purpose. Be careful not to overmix the batter or you could end up with a dense, soggy coating.

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

½ cup cake flour, plus 2 tablespoons
¾ cup cornstarch, divided
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Air fryers have gained immense popularity over the years due to their efficiency and versatility when it comes to cooking meals. One of the best ways to utilize an air fryer is by preparing delicious and healthy vegetable dishes such as air fryer buffalo cauliflower. This dish is both appetizing and easy to prepare, making it an excellent addition to your recipe collection. However, to make the perfect air fryer buffalo cauliflower, there are several tips and tricks you need to know.

Tip 1: Choose the right cauliflower

When making air fryer buffalo cauliflower, it is crucial to choose the right cauliflower for the task. It is recommended to use fresh cauliflower, preferably a head that is firm and white with compact florets that are tightly closed. Also, ensure that the cauliflower head is of a medium size to have uniform cooking.

Tip 2: Cut the cauliflower into proper portions

Before air-frying the cauliflower, you should cut it into proper portions. The cauliflower should be cut into bite-size florets, which will allow for even cooking and crispiness. Also, ensure that the florets are of uniform size to cook consistently.

Tip 3: Preheat the air fryer

Before cooking the cauliflower, it is crucial to preheat the air fryer. Preheating ensures that the air fryer is at the right temperature, which allows for even cooking and perfect crispiness. To preheat the air fryer, set the temperature to 400°F and let it run for about 5 minutes.

Tip 4: Use olive oil spray

While air fryers are known for their ability to cook food with little to no oil, it is still essential to use oil spray when making air fryer buffalo cauliflower. Olive oil spray is a healthier and less messy option compared to pouring oil over the cauliflower. The oil spray should be applied in a thin, even layer to ensure that the cauliflower is properly coated.

Tip 5: Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket

One common mistake many people make when air frying foods is overcrowding the air fryer basket. Overcrowding the basket lowers the cooking temperature and makes it difficult for the air to circulate evenly around the food. This results in unevenly cooked food, especially in the case of air fryer buffalo cauliflower. To avoid this, ensure that the cauliflower is arranged in a single layer, leaving some space around each floret for even cooking.

Tip 6: Flip the cauliflower halfway through cooking

Flipping the cauliflower halfway through cooking helps to ensure that both sides of the cauliflower are evenly cooked and crispy. When flipping the cauliflower, use tongs or a spatula to carefully turn the florets over, ensuring that they are placed back in a single layer.

Tip 7: Adjust the cooking time as needed

The cooking time for air fryer buffalo cauliflower may vary depending on the size and quantity of cauliflower used. It is, therefore, crucial to keep a close eye on the cauliflower and adjust the cooking time as needed. The cauliflower is typically ready when it is crispy and golden brown.

Tip 8: Add the buffalo sauce after cooking

It is recommended to add the buffalo sauce to the air fryer buffalo cauliflower after cooking for the best results. Toss the freshly cooked cauliflower florets with the buffalo sauce in a bowl to ensure that they are evenly coated. This helps to maintain the crispiness of the cauliflower and prevent it from becoming soggy.

Tip 9: Serve with dip

Air fryer buffalo cauliflower makes an excellent appetizer, especially when served with a delicious dip. You can serve it with dips such as ranch or blue cheese dressing to complement the tangy and spicy flavors of the buffalo sauce.

Conclusion

Air fryer buffalo cauliflower is a delicious and healthy dish that is easy to make. By following the tips outlined above, you can achieve the perfect crispy and spicy cauliflower that will be a hit in any gathering. Remember to choose the right cauliflower, cut it into proper portions, preheat the air fryer, use olive oil spray, avoid overcrowding the basket, flip the cauliflower halfway through cooking, adjust the cooking time as needed, add the buffalo sauce after cooking, and serve with a dip. Enjoy!
