Time 30m

Yield 24

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pound lean ground beef
2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
½ (16 ounce) package 4 1/2-inch wonton wrappers
2 tablespoons sesame oil

Steps:

  • Combine ground beef, green onions, salt, garlic powder, pepper, and ginger in a bowl; mix well.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place several of the wonton wrappers on a plate or a cutting board without overlapping. Pour some water into a small bowl next to the plate.
  • Form about 1 tablespoon of beef mixture into a ball and place on one side of each wrapper. Dip your fingertips in the bowl of water and swipe some water around the edges of the wonton wrappers. Fold the wontons in half so that they form a triangle around the beef mixture. Wet your fingers with additional water and pinch the edges of the wrapper together. Place folded wontons onto plates, making sure they don't overlap, while you assemble the remaining wontons.
  • Brush one side of the wontons lightly with sesame oil. Place a single layer of wontons into the air fryer basket, oiled side down. Brush the tops lightly with additional sesame oil.
  • Air fry for 4 minutes, then carefully flip the wontons with tongs. Cook on the second side until the wontons are crispy and the edges are golden brown, 3 to 4 more minutes. Transfer wontons to a paper towel-lined plate and let cool while you cook the rest of the wontons in batches.

Air fryer beef wontons are a crowd-pleasing appetizer that you can serve during any gathering, party or get-together. They are crispy, flavorful, and easy to make. Despite their tasty nature and ease of preparation, they require some care and attention, especially if you are making them for the first time. That's why we've put together some valuable tips to help you make the perfect air fryer beef wontons recipes.

Ingredients

Before we dive into the tips, let's first talk about the ingredients you need to make air fryer beef wontons recipes. Depending on your recipe and preference, you will need the following:
  • Ground beef or other types of minced meat
  • Wonton wrappers
  • Seasonings (soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and more)
  • Cornstarch and water for sealing the wontons
  • An air fryer

Tips for Making the Perfect Air Fryer Beef Wontons

1. Use the Right Meat:
The quality of the meat you use in your air fryer beef wontons will determine the texture, flavor, and overall success of your recipe. Regardless of the meat you choose, make sure that it is fresh and not overly fatty. Ground beef with at least 80% lean and 20% fat is generally ideal for wontons.
2. Don't Overfill the Wontons:
When filling the wontons, resist the urge to overstuff them, as this can cause them to tear or burst during cooking. Instead, place 1-2 teaspoons of filling in the center of the wrapper and avoid getting it too close to the edges.
3. Proper Wonton Folding:
Folding wontons can be intimidating if you have not done it before. However, with the right approach, it’s a breeze. Begin by placing the filling in the center of the wrapper, then brush the edges with the cornstarch mixture. Fold it in half diagonally and seal to form a triangle. Brush the corners with the cornstarch mixture and bring them together, pinching them slightly until they stick together.
4. Brush with Oil:
To get the best texture for your wontons, make sure to brush them with oil before air frying. This will help them to crisp up and develop a golden-brown exterior.
5. Preheating the Air Fryer:
It's always advisable to preheat the air fryer for 3-5 minutes before placing the wontons. This will help the air fryer to achieve its optimal temperature, and your wontons will come out perfectly crisp.
6. Avoid Overcrowding:
It can be tempting to cook many wontons at once to save time, but this is not advisable, as overcrowding can affect the cooking process. Due to a lack of space, the wontons may stick together, and some parts may remain undercooked while others overcooked. To get evenly cooked wontons, make sure there is enough space between each wonton.
7. Don't Walk Away:
When cooking your air fryer beef wontons, make sure not to walk away from your air fryer. Pay attention to the cooking time, and keep an eye on the progress. This will help you to get the perfect crispy texture you desire without overcooking or burning them.

Closing Thoughts

Air fryer beef wontons are easy to make and can turn out perfectly with prior practice and the right approach. Following the tips above will help you get the best results, be it texture, flavor, or appearance. So why not try it today?
