AIR FRYER ASPARAGUS TOTS
There are broccoli tots and there are cauliflower tots, so why not asparagus tots? These are great on their own but I like to dip them in hollandaise sauce.

AIR FRYER ASPARAGUS
Asparagus is so good in the spring, and sometimes, you can find the really thick spears, like I did. This lovely side dish is ready in just a few minutes to enhance a weeknight dinner, or maybe something more special. Please be aware that different brands and sizes of air fryers may produce different results. If your asparagus is thin, reduce the cooking time.

An air fryer is a small kitchen appliance that circulates hot air around food to cook it. Air fryers have become incredibly popular over the past few years because they offer a healthier way to cook foods that would otherwise be deep fried. One popular food item that can be cooked in an air fryer is asparagus tots. In this article, we will discuss what asparagus tots are, why they are a great option for an air fryer recipe, and how to make them.
What are Asparagus Tots?
Asparagus tots are a delicious and healthy twist on traditional tater tots. Instead of using potatoes, these tots use asparagus as their base. The asparagus is chopped into small pieces and mixed together with other ingredients, such as eggs and bread crumbs, to make a crispy and flavorful bite-sized treat.
Why Air Fryer Asparagus Tots?
Air fryer asparagus tots have several advantages over traditional deep fried or baked tots. First, air frying is a healthier cooking method because it requires little or no oil, which reduces the fat content. Additionally, the hot air in an air fryer circulates around the food, so the tots cook evenly and get crispy on all sides without the need for excess oil. Finally, air fryer asparagus tots are quick and easy to make - they only take about 15 minutes to cook, and cleanup is a breeze.
How to Make Air Fryer Asparagus Tots?
Here's a simple recipe for asparagus tots that you can make in your air fryer:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. asparagus
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions:
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.
- Wash and trim the ends off the asparagus. Chop the asparagus into small pieces.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the chopped asparagus to the mixing bowl and stir until evenly coated with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray. Using a small cookie scoop, scoop out the asparagus mixture and form it into small tot shapes. Place the tots in the air fryer basket, making sure to leave some space between the tots so they cook evenly.
- Cook the asparagus tots in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside. Shake the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even cooking.
- Remove the tots from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Conclusion
Air fryer asparagus tots are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional tater tots. They are easy to make in your air fryer and take only a few minutes to cook. With a crispy outside and a tender inside, these asparagus tots are sure to be a hit with everyone at the table!
