Time 55m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

Nonstick cooking spray
1 pound large shrimp (16/20 count), peeled and deveined, tails on
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons chopped pickled jalapenos
2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon hot sauce
1 scallion, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • For the fried shrimp: Spray the basket of a 3.5-quart air fryer with cooking spray and set aside. Pat the shrimp dry between a couple paper towels, then season with a pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper.
  • Whisk the flour with 3/4 teaspoon salt and few grinds of pepper in a shallow bowl or baking dish. Whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt in another shallow bowl. Add the panko to a third shallow bowl. Dip a shrimp in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess, then dip in the beaten eggs. Dredge in the panko, turning until evenly coated. Transfer to a large plate or a rimmed baking sheet and repeat with the remaining shrimp.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 385 degrees F. Working in batches, place some of the shrimp in a single layer in the fryer basket, then spray lightly with more cooking spray. Cook until the shrimp are golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway through, about 10 minutes.
  • For the spicy remoulade sauce: Meanwhile, stir together the mayonnaise, pickled jalapenos, mustard, ketchup, hot sauce and scallion in a small bowl until smooth. Serve with the fried shrimp for dipping.

AIR-FRIED BACON-WRAPPED SHRIMP

Air-Fried Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp image

Simple to put together with only 4 ingredients, but big on flavor! I like to use "extra jumbo" size shrimp, which are 16-20 per pound. Cutting the bacon lengthwise into narrow strips makes it easier to wrap. Refrigerating the shrimp, as well as using thin-cut bacon, will prevent the shrimp from overcooking in the time it takes to crisp the bacon.

Provided by France C

Time 42m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 5

16 jumbo Shrimp, fresh, raw, jumbo (11-15)
¾ teaspoon Cajun seasoning
8 strips thin sliced bacon, cut in half
16 toothpicks
2 tablespoons hot honey (such as Mike's Hot Honey®)

Steps:

  • Place shrimp on a plate and sprinkle both sides with Cajun seasoning. Wrap each shrimp with 1 narrow strip of bacon and fasten with a toothpick. Refrigerate for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Air-fry shrimp for 3 minutes. Flip and continue cooking until bacon is lightly crispy, 4 to 5 minutes more. You may have to do 2 batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Remove shrimp to a plate and drizzle with hot honey. Serve immediately, being watchful of any toothpicks.

Air frying is a cooking method that has taken the world by storm in recent years. It is a healthier way of cooking as it uses little or no oil, and it produces crispy, crunchy, and delicious food that everyone enjoys. Shrimp is one of the most popular seafood dishes that people air fry. In this article, we will provide valuable tips on how to make the best air-fried shrimp recipes.

Tips for Making the Best Air-Fried Shrimp

1. Choose the Right Shrimp
When it comes to air-fried shrimp recipes, it is crucial to select the right kind of shrimp. Always opt for fresh, raw shrimp that has not been frozen for longer than six months. Use shrimp that are medium to large in size and have already been cleaned and deveined, as these will take the least time to cook and are the easiest to prepare.
2. Season Your Shrimp
While shrimp is delicious on its own, seasoning can take it to the next level. Mix your shrimp with garlic, ginger, lemon juice, salt and pepper or any other spices of your choice. Marinate your shrimp for at least 30 minutes before air frying, or let it rest in the fridge for a few hours so that the flavors can infuse well.
3. Preheat Your Air Fryer
Like any cooking appliance, it is best to preheat your air fryer for a few minutes before cooking any food. Preheating will help to ensure that your shrimp cooks evenly and is crispy all around. Most air fryers will take around three minutes to preheat fully.
4. Know the Right Temperature
The cooking temperature is critical when air frying shrimp. Shrimp cooks quickly and can easily become overcooked or rubbery, so it is essential to ensure that your heat is not too high. The ideal temperature for air frying shrimp is between 350°F and 400°F.
5. Use the Right Amount of Oil
One of the main advantages of air frying is that it requires less oil than traditional frying methods. However, this does not mean that you should skip oil altogether. A little oil in your favorite recipe will help give your shrimp that golden, crispy exterior that everyone loves. Use a cooking spray or a small amount of oil to coat your shrimp evenly.
6. Avoid Overcrowding the Basket
One of the most common mistakes people make when air frying shrimp is overcrowding the basket. You must leave enough space for air to circulate around your shrimp, ensuring it cooks evenly. Work in batches if you need to air fry a large amount of shrimp.
7. Flip the Shrimp
Flipping your shrimp halfway through the cooking process is a good way to ensure that they cook evenly on both sides. Use a fork or tongs to turn your shrimp carefully. If you are using larger shrimp, you may not need to flip them at all.
8. Don't Cook for Too Long
When air frying shrimp, it is essential not to overcook them as they will become rubbery and chewy. Shrimp should cook for about five minutes for medium-sized shrimp, and between seven and eight minutes for larger shrimp.
9. Serve Your Shrimp Hot and Fresh
Like any food, shrimp is best served hot and fresh. Once your shrimp is cooked, remove it from the air fryer immediately and serve it as soon as possible. Garnish with some fresh herbs or a wedge of lemon to add some extra flavor.

Conclusion

Air frying shrimp is a quick, easy and healthy way to prepare one of the most delicious seafood meals out there. With these tips, your air-fried shrimp will be the talk of the town. Happy cooking!
