Hash brown potatoes have become a popular breakfast item around the world. They are made from shredded potatoes, formed into a patty, and then pan-fried until crispy. However, traditional hash browns can be high in fat and calories. This is where air frying comes in as a healthier alternative.

What is air frying?

Air frying is a cooking method that uses hot air to cook food items. It works by circulating hot air around the food, creating a crispy outer layer, without the need for oil or fat.

Why air frying is healthier?

Air frying is considered healthier than traditional frying because it reduces the amount of oil needed to cook the food. This leads to lower fat and calorie contents in the food.

Air fried hash brown potatoes advantages

Air-fried hash browns are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Moreover, air frying hash browns is fast and easy to do. This makes it possible to have hash browns for a quick breakfast or brunch, without spending too much time in the kitchen.
How to make air-fried hash brown potatoes?
Before air frying the hash browns, the potatoes need to be shredded and squeezed to remove as much moisture as possible. Then, the potatoes can be seasoned with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste. The hash browns can be shaped into patties or left loose, depending on your preference. A light spray of cooking oil can be added to prevent the hash browns from sticking to the air fryer basket. The hash browns can then be air fried for 10-15 minutes at 400°F or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Conclusion

Air frying has transformed the way we cook and eat our favorite foods. The air-fried hash brown potatoes recipe is a healthier, quicker and tastier version of traditional pan-fried hash browns. With its crisp texture and savory flavor, air-fried hash brown potatoes are a must-try for anyone who loves breakfast food.
Hash brown potatoes are a popular breakfast side dish made from grated potatoes that are fried until crisp and golden brown. However, cooking them in a traditional pan can take up a lot of time and requires quite a bit of oil, which in turn makes it unhealthy. But with the invention of air fryers, making hash brown potatoes has become much faster, easier and healthier too. In this article, we will provide you with some valuable tips on how to make air fried hash brown potatoes.

Choose the Right Potatoes

The key to making a perfect hash brown potato is to start with the right kind of potato. Russet potatoes are widely used for making hash browns due to their high starch content. This starch helps in binding the potato shreds and creates a crispy texture when cooked. But you can also use other varieties like red or yellow potatoes.

Grate the Potatoes Properly

Grating the potatoes evenly is essential for making hash browns. Use a grater with large holes and grate the potatoes into a bowl. Make sure to squeeze out any excess water from the potatoes as they contain a lot of moisture, which will prevent them from getting crispy in the air fryer.

Season the Potatoes

Seasoning is important to give the potatoes an extra burst of flavour. You can mix the grated potatoes with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder or any other seasoning of your choice. You can also add some grated cheese or chopped herbs like parsley or chives for additional flavour.

Preheat the Air Fryer

Preheating the air fryer is a crucial step for even cooking. Heat the air fryer to 375°F for about 3 minutes before adding the potatoes. This will help in achieving a crispy texture on the outside while keeping the potatoes soft inside.

Use Cooking Spray

To prevent the potatoes from sticking to the air fryer basket, it's important to spray it with cooking spray before placing the potatoes. This will also help in achieving a crispy texture.

Spread the Potatoes Evenly

For even cooking, make sure to spread the potatoes evenly in the air fryer basket. You can use a fork to spread them out and create a thin layer. It's essential not to overcrowd the basket as this will prevent the potatoes from getting crispy.

Cook in Batches

If you have a large quantity of potatoes, it's better to cook them in batches rather than overloading the air fryer basket. This will ensure even cooking and crispy texture every time.

Flip the Potatoes

To ensure that both sides of the potatoes get crispy, flip them halfway through the cooking time. You can use a fork to flip them or shake the basket gently.

Check for Doneness

Air fryers may have different cooking times, so it's important to check the potatoes for doneness towards the end of the cooking time. The potatoes should be golden brown and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Serve Hot

Serve the air fried hash brown potatoes hot for the best taste and texture. You can also sprinkle some chopped herbs or grated cheese on top for extra flavour.
Conclusion:
Air fried hash brown potatoes are a delicious and healthy breakfast option that can be made easily with the help of an air fryer. By following these valuable tips, you can achieve a crispy texture and perfect flavour every time you make them. So, go ahead and give it a try!
