Time 20m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

Four 4- to 5-ounce frozen skin-on salmon fillets
2 tablespoons olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
3 cloves garlic
1/3 cup honey
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Rinse the salmon under cool water and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place the salmon skin-side up in the skillet, leaving room in between. Cook until the salmon is browned on the first side, about 4 minutes.
  • Flip the salmon with a spatula and season with salt and pepper. Reduce the heat to medium, cover and cook until the salmon is opaque throughout and flakes easily when you insert a paring knife between the layers, 7 to 9 minutes. Transfer the salmon to a plate.
  • Reduce the heat to low. Add the garlic to the skillet and cook, stirring, until golden brown, about 30 seconds. Add the honey, soy sauce and vinegar and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Return the salmon to the skillet and turn to coat in the sauce. Serve the salmon drizzled with the sauce.

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 6 oz Salmon (filets, frozen)
1 tsp Avocado Oil
Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Prepare your air fryer. For this method, I not only preheat my air fryer to 400F, but I also lightly grease the air fryer basket with avocado oil. This helps keep the salmon from sticking as it thaws and then cooks.
  • Air fry the salmon filet. Place frozen salmon filets at the bottom of the air fryer basket and set the timer for 15 minutes. Halfway through, take a spatula and get under the salmon to release it and flip over.
  • Season the salmon. After it's flipped, brush with a small amount of avocado oil, then add salt and pepper. Let it cook for 5-7 minutes more or until salmon is completely cooked through.
  • Remove and serve. Remove the cooked salmon using tongs or a spatula. Add a squeeze of lemon juice and serve hot with your favorite side dish.

Air frying is a great way to cook frozen salmon, as it allows you to cook it to perfection without having to defrost it first. However, it can be tricky to get it right every time. That's why we've put together some valuable tips for making air-fried frozen salmon recipes that will help you cook it perfectly every time.

1. Choose the right cut of salmon

When selecting frozen salmon for air frying recipes, the cut you choose matters. We recommend going for thicker cuts of salmon because they cook better in an air fryer. This is because the thicker the cut, the more time it will take to cook properly. Thicker cuts of salmon also retain more moisture, which means they will be less likely to become dry and overcooked.
2. Add seasonings and sauces
While salmon has a delicious flavor on its own, you can add some impressive flavor by adding seasonings or sauces. We recommend sticking to simple flavors like lemon, garlic, and dill, which will enhance the natural taste of the salmon. You can also try adding some soy sauce, honey, or maple syrup for a sweet and savory flavor.
3. Preheat the air fryer
Preheating the air fryer is essential when making frozen salmon recipes. This is because the preheating process ensures that the air inside the air fryer is hot and ready to cook the salmon thoroughly. Remember to preheat before putting the salmon in the air fryer.
4. Pat the salmon dry
Frozen salmon tends to have a lot of ice crystals on it, which can cause the salmon to steam instead of air frying. To avoid this, pat the salmon dry with a paper towel before placing it in the air fryer. This will help to remove any excess moisture and ensure that the salmon cooks evenly.
5. Cook in batches
When air frying frozen salmon, it's important to avoid overcrowding the air fryer. This can cause the salmon to cook unevenly, and the air fryer may not produce enough heat to cook all the salmon properly. To avoid this problem, cook the salmon in batches instead of trying to cook it all at once.
6. Monitor the cooking time
Cooking time for salmon in an air fryer can vary depending on the thickness of the cut of salmon you're cooking. To ensure that you don't overcook or undercook the salmon, monitor the cooking time closely. Start with a shorter cooking time and then adjust the cooking time as needed.
7. Use a meat thermometer
If you're unsure if the salmon is done cooking, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Salmon is safe to eat when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F. This will also help determine if the salmon is cooked to your liking (e.g., rare, medium, or well-done).
8. Let it rest before serving
After cooking the salmon, let it rest for a few minutes before serving. This will allow any excess moisture to reabsorb into the salmon, making it moist and tender. Letting it rest also ensures that it is easier to handle and won't fall apart when you're serving it.
9. Serve with sides
Salmon is a versatile fish that goes well with many different side dishes. Some of our favorite sides to serve with air fried frozen salmon include roasted vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes. The possibilities are endless, so feel free to get creative with your side dishes.

Conclusion

Air frying frozen salmon is a great way to cook this tasty fish to perfection. With these valuable tips in mind, you'll be able to create flavorful, moist, and delicious air-fried frozen salmon recipes that are sure to impress. Remember to choose the right cut of salmon, use seasonings and sauces, preheat the air fryer, pat the salmon dry, cook in batches, monitor the cooking time, use a meat thermometer, let it rest before serving, and serve it with sides. With these tips, you'll have a delicious meal that your whole family will enjoy.
