VIRGIL'S "TOP SECRET" PORK CHOP MARINADE

Virgil's

This is my father-in-law's famous 'top secret' pork chop marinade. Top secret means that he shared it with everyone the last 20 years, even my brother, who is no relation to Virgil, but he would never share with me until recently. I gave him so much grief about it that he finally shared it with me. I know what you're thinking, 'Virgil didn't share it with you because he didn't want it blabbed on the internet.' Nope. He only did that to pester me. This is a very good marinade that was developed by Virgil and his brother specifically for pork chops, but also works on beef and chicken.

Categories     High Protein

Time 6h10m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 pork chops
6 ounces pineapple juice
1 tablespoon Jack Daniels Whiskey
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 garlic cloves (crushed)
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Steps:

  • Place thawed pork chops in a resealing plastic bag, and then add all of the ingredients.
  • Marinate pork chops for 4-6 hours in refrigerator.
  • Turn pork chops over every hour.
  • Discard marinade before grilling.
  • Grill until pork chop temperature reads 145 degrees F or until desired doneness. (I use to cook it until it reached 160 degrees F which usually produced a dry unappealing chop, however now the US FDA is recommending the 145 degree F internal temperature).
  • Enjoy!

Acadian Pork Chop Marinade is a popular recipe that originated from the Acadian region in Canada. It is a flavorful and delicious marinade that enhances the taste of pork chops. This recipe is easy to make and requires only a few ingredients. In this article, we will be discussing valuable tips when making Acadian Pork Chop Marinade recipes.

Tip 1: Choose the Right Cut of Pork

It is crucial to select the right cut of pork when making Acadian Pork Chop Marinade. Pork chops come in various sizes and cuts, including bone-in or boneless. Bone-in pork chops tend to have more flavor, whereas boneless pork chops tend to be more tender. However, both cuts work well with Acadian Pork Chop Marinade.

Tip 2: Marinate Overnight

Marinating the pork chops overnight is essential to enhance the flavor and tenderness of the meat. It is best to let the pork chops marinate for at least 8 hours, but overnight is preferred. This will allow the pork chops to absorb the flavors of the marinade fully. Remember to cover the pork chops and refrigerate while marinating.

Tip 3: Use Fresh Ingredients

It is essential to use fresh ingredients when making Acadian Pork Chop Marinade. Fresh ingredients will enhance the flavor of the marinade, giving it a natural and authentic taste. Using fresh herbs such as thyme, rosemary, and sage will make a significant difference in the marinade's overall taste.

Tip 4: Don't Overdo the Salt

Salt is a crucial ingredient in Acadian Pork Chop Marinade. However, it is essential not to overdo it. Too much salt can overpower the flavors of the other ingredients, causing the pork chops to taste too salty. A general rule of thumb is to use about one teaspoon of salt per pound of meat.

Tip 5: Use a Ziplock Bag

Marinating the pork chops in a ziplock bag is the easiest and most effective way to coat the meat with the marinade. Make sure to remove as much air as possible from the bag to allow the pork chops to marinate evenly. This also saves time and reduces the amount of clean-up needed.

Tip 6: Use Olive Oil

Olive oil is a crucial ingredient in Acadian Pork Chop Marinade. It not only adds flavor but also helps the marinade adhere to the pork chops. Using a high-quality extra virgin olive oil will give the marinade a fruity and robust flavor.

Tip 7: Let the Meat Rest

After cooking the pork chops, it is essential to let them rest for a few minutes before slicing them. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat and ensures that the pork chops are tender and juicy.

Conclusion

In summary, making Acadian Pork Chop Marinade is a straightforward and delicious recipe. It requires only a few ingredients and is easy to prepare. Choosing the right cut of pork, marinating overnight, using fresh ingredients, not overdoing the salt, using a ziplock bag, using olive oil, and letting the meat rest are all valuable tips when making Acadian Pork Chop Marinade. By following these tips, you can create a flavorful and delicious pork chop that everyone will love.
