Peas with Bacon image

A touch of smoky bacon turns frozen peas into a sumptuous side dish.

5 slices bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 packages (10 ounces each) frozen peas
1 teaspoon white-wine vinegar
Coarse salt and ground pepper

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium, stirring occasionally, until fat is rendered and bacon is crispy, 5 to 7 minutes. With a slotted spoon, transfer bacon to a paper-towel-lined plate, leaving fat in skillet.
  • Add peas to skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until heated through, 4 to 6 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vinegar, and season with salt and pepper. Serve peas topped with bacon.

1 (10 ounce) package frozen raspberries, thawed
2 ½ cups cranberry juice
2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
2 liters ginger ale
2 liters sparkling apple cider (non-alcoholic)
6 gummi snakes candy

Steps:

  • To make the frozen hand: Wash and rinse the outside of a rubber glove. Turn glove inside out and set aside. In a 4 cup measuring cup, combine the thawed raspberries and cranberry juice.
  • Pour 2 cups of the raspberry mixture into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin over and let stand 2 minutes. Warm over low heat, stirring constantly, just until gelatin dissolves. Mix back into the reserved raspberry mixture in the measuring cup.
  • Pour raspberry mixture into the inverted glove. Gather up the top of the glove and tie securely with kitchen twine. Freeze until solid, or several days if possible.
  • To serve: Carefully cut glove away from frozen hand. Place frozen hand, palm side up, leaning against side of a large punch bowl. Pour in ginger ale and sparkling cider. Garnish with gummy snakes.

If you like Chili , and you like sweet and sour ,,, You,ll love this It,s a combination of both A must try . a recipe I came up with many years ago, ( In my creative years ) Tip:: it may dry out as baking if so you may need to add a little water 1/2 cup or so I find as I do each step I add it right into a roasting pan to save time

1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion
1/2 lb bacon
1 (14 ounce) can kidney beans
1 (14 ounce) can pork and beans
1 (14 ounce) can lima beans
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger then put in a round roasting pan and set aside ,.
  • Cook chopped bacon till tender not crispy add to hamburger.
  • Saute chopped onion till transparent add to first two
  • Drain the juices from all three cans of beans saving it
  • Put all beans into the hamburger mixture mix well.
  • To the reserved juices you will add the last four ingredients.
  • Lastly you mix all together well , cook in oven at 350.F for one hour.
  • Don,t over cook ,
  • Check often if it,s drying out add a little water and stir often
  • Don,t over cook , Enjoy served with plain rice and your choice of vegges.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
6 strips of bacon
1 lb ground beef
1 can tomatoes
1 can kidney beans
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup shredded cheese
1 cup cooked noodles
salt and pepper
1 tsp chili powder
1 can mushrooms

Steps:

  • Take two bacon strips and cut into small pieces. Brown together with onion and celery. Add ground beef and cook until beef is browned. Add seasoning, tomatoes, mushrooms and kidney beans. Simmer until mixture thickens then add noodles. Place mixture in a casserole dish. Top with 4 slices of bacon (uncooked) bread crumbs and cheese. Bake at 350F for approximately 20 minutes (uncovered).

1 pound potatoes, peeled and cubed (about 2 medium)
1 cup water
8 bacon strips
1 medium onion, chopped
1 celery rib, chopped
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1-3/4 cups whole milk
1 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Place potatoes in a small saucepan and cover with the water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and cook for 10-15 minutes or until tender., Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook bacon until crisp; remove to paper towels to drain and set aside., In the same skillet, saute onion and celery in drippings until tender; drain. Add to undrained potatoes. Stir in the soup, milk, sour cream, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes or until heated through (do not boil)., Crumble bacon; set aside 1/4 cup. Add remaining bacon to soup along with parsley. Sprinkle with reserved bacon.

This is one of my Dad's recipes. It's great comfort food and very good with biscuits or corn muffins.

8 slices bacon, diced
4 medium potatoes, chopped
1/2 cup onion, chopped
pepper
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of celery soup
1 (15 ounce) can corn
1 teaspoon marjoram
3 cups milk, depends on how thick you want it to be

Steps:

  • Cook bacon in skillet till crisp-add onions until limp-drain on paper towels.
  • Put potatoes and celery in large stock pot and add enough water to just cover.
  • Boil until not quite tender.
  • Do not drain.
  • Add bacon, onions and rest of ingredients and simmer for 1/2 hour--eat & enjoy.
