I tried this bread recipe after viewing an interview on Dr. Oz featuring Wheat Belly author Dr. William Davis.It is fantastic! Has a very light, bread-y texture!

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/4 c almond flour/meal
1/4 + 2 Tbsp chickpea flour
1/4 c golden flax meal
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
5 eggs(separated)
1/4 butter(or coconut oil)
1 Tbsp milk
1/2 tsp Stevia(baking Stevia)
1 tsp cinnamon(optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 8.5" x 4.5" loaf pan with either coconut oil or butter.
  • In a food processor, combine the almond flour, garbanzo bean flour, flaxseed, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Pulse until well blended. Add the egg yolks, butter, buttermilk and Stevia and pulse until just blended.
  • In a large bowl and using an electric mixer on high, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Pour into the flour mixture and pulse until the egg whites are evenly distributed, but do not run the machine at a constant speed. Spread into the pan and bake for 40 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, remove and cool completely on a rack.

I'm 12 years old and make this bread with my mother, who got the recipe from her mother. I usually make the dough, and my mom bakes it.

Yield 2 loaves (16 slices each).

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
3 cups warm water (110° to 115°), divided
3/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 tablespoon salt
7 to 7-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 cups whole wheat flour

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in 3/4 cup warm water. Add the oil, sugar, molasses, salt and remaining water. Combine flours; add 4-5 cups flour to mixture. Beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to form a firm dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour., Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half. Shape each portion into a loaf. Place in 2 greased 9x5-in. loaf pans. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. , Bake at 350° until golden brown, 40-45 minutes. Remove from pans to cool on wire racks.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 tablespoon oil
2 cups chopped onions
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup brown rice flour
1 cup rye flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup oil
3 eggs
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon cider vinegar or 1 teaspoon rice vinegar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F and grease and flour a 9x5 loaf pan.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a meduim skillet over low heat.
  • Add the onions and saute until translucent.
  • Grind the oats in a blender or food processor until fine, like flour.
  • Sift together the oat flour, rice flour, rye flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the 1/4 cup of the oil, eggs, water, and vinegar.
  • Stir the flour mixture into the liquid mixture until just mixed.
  • Fold in the onions.
  • Pour the batter into the pan for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
  • Let bread cool for about 5 minutes in the pan and remove to cool on a rack.
  • Let bread cool on the rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

An easy basic recipe for whole wheat bread that is great for sandwiches and for toasting!

¾ cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
1 tablespoon powdered egg substitute
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup bread flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon rapid rise yeast

Steps:

  • Dissolve egg substitute in warm water. Place all ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Whole Wheat cycle and Regular bake time; press Start.
  • After 5 minutes, check how the dough is kneading, it may need either 1 tablespoon of flour or 1 tablespoon of water, depending on the consistency. Once the bread is done, allow it time to cool on a wire rack before cutting.
