Upgrade your typical BLT with this grilled version, jazzed up with turkey and melted Cheddar cheese. Prepared dressing and cooked turkey breast make it go together fast.

2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon ranch dressing
8 slices soft Italian bread (about 1/2 inch thick)
4 oz shaved cooked turkey breast (from deli)
4 slices cooked bacon, halved
4 slices tomato, halved
2 slices (1 oz each) Cheddar cheese, halved
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened

Steps:

  • In small bowl, mix mayonnaise and dressing. Spread on one side of each slice of bread. Top each of 4 bread slices with turkey, bacon, tomato, cheese and remaining bread slices, mayonnaise mixture side down.
  • Spread butter on one side of each sandwich. In 12-inch skillet, place sandwiches, butter side down. Spread butter over top of each sandwich. Cover; cook over medium-low heat 6 to 8 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown.
  • Turn sandwiches; cover and cook 5 to 6 minutes longer or until bottoms are golden brown and cheese is melted.

6 thin slices cooked turkey
6 thin slices fully cooked ham
12 slices buttered French bread (1/2 inch thick)
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup 2% milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup Miracle Whip
1/3 cup whole-berry cranberry sauce

Steps:

  • Place 1 slice each of turkey and ham on 6 bread slices. Top with remaining bread. In a shallow bowl, beat eggs and milk. Dip the sandwiches in egg mixture, turning to coat both sides. , In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Brown sandwiches on both sides. In a small bowl, combine Miracle Whip and cranberry sauce. Serve with sandwiches.

2 pub-style sandwich buns
1 -2 tablespoon butter or 1 -2 tablespoon margarine
1 slice mozzarella cheese
1 slice cheddar cheese
4 slices salami or 4 slices pepperoni
5 slices deli turkey or 5 slices deli chicken
1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
1 tablespoon mustard (optional)

Steps:

  • Butter both halves of the buns.
  • Broil in the oven until just turning brown.
  • Remove from oven.
  • Add cheese to the top half of the bun.
  • Add turkey and salami to bottom half of bun.
  • Return to oven and broil until cheese just melted.
  • Remove from oven and add mayonnaise and mustard if desired.

1/4 cup plain fat-free yogurt
3 tablespoons low-fat mayonnaise
1 teaspoon bottled ground fresh ginger (such as Spice World, the stuff in the jar that you keep in the fridge, not ground ginger)
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
3/4 cup thinly sliced celery
1/4 cup chopped red onion
1/4 cup dried cherries
1/4 cup golden raisin

8 slices hearty whole grain bread of choice, sliced sandwich style
3 T basil pesto
½ to ¼ lb roasted turkey breast, thinly sliced
1 roasted red bell pepper, stemmed, skinned, seeded, cut into strips
4 slices Colby-Jack cheese
Fresh black pepper, if desired
1 T extra-virgin olive oil

Steps:

  • 1. Arrange slices of bread on a flat work surface. Using a small spoon, divide pesto evenly among one side of slices. 2. Place even amounts of turkey, roasted red pepper strips, and cheese on 4 bread slices. Season with pepper, if desired. Top with remaining 4 bread slices. Lightly brush each sandwich with olive oil. 3. Heat a large skillet over med-high heat. When the skillet is hot, add sandwiches, and cook until bread is lightly toasted and cheese is melted, pressing occasionally with a large metal spatula or bottom of small heavy saucepan, about 4 min per side. Remove sandwiches from pan; slice in half on diagonal, serve immediately.

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
8 slices whole wheat bread
3 tablespoons prepared mustard, preferably a honey mustard
1 lb cooked turkey breast, sliced (roasted or smoked)
1 large green apple, such as granny smith,quartered,cored and thinly sliced
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese (about 1/2 lb.)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Butter one side of 4 slices of bread and place them, buttered side down, on a baking sheet.
  • Spread the mustard over the sliced bread.
  • Divide the turkey breast evenly over the mustard and arrange the apple slices on top.
  • Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the apples.
  • Butter the remaining 4 slices of bread and place them, buttered sides up, on the cheese, pressing lightly to compact the sandwiches.
