2 1/2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1 dash orange or aromatic bitters , optional
Lemon twist or 1 or 3 olives, garnish

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In a mixing glass filled with ice cubes, combine the gin and vermouth, pouring more or less vermouth to your taste.
  • Stir for 30 seconds .
  • Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  • Add a dash of bitters, if desired.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist or olives.

Cracked ice
2 1/2 ounces London dry gin, such as Beefeater
1/2 ounce dry vermouth, preferably Noilly Prat
Green olive for garnish

Steps:

  • In mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine gin and vermouth. Stir well, about 30 seconds, then strain into martini glass. Garnish with olive or lemon twist and serve.

50ml dry gin
1 tsp dry vermouth
ice

Steps:

  • Put a martini glass in the fridge to chill for 10 mins. Pour the gin and vermouth into a mixing glass or jug filled with ice cubes. Stir with a mixing spoon until the outside of the glass is very cold, then taste to check the dilution. If needed, continue to stir until the martini is diluted and chilled to your liking.
  • Strain the martini into the chilled glass and serve.
