This is a very chewy bar prepared by one of my co-workers. I think they are delicious and hope you agree!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 stick(s) butter, no substitution
2 cup(s) brown sugar
3 - eggs
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
1 1/2 cup(s) self-rising flour (no substitutions)
1/2 - 3/4 cup(s) chopped pecans

Steps:

  • 350 degree oven. Spray 9 x 13" pan with Pam. Cream together first four ingredients. Add flour and pecans - mix well. Spread in pan and bake for 30 minutes. Do not overbake! Immediately after you take them from the oven, carefully cut into squares and remove from pan. Dust with powdered sugar. These are best right out of the oven. ENJOY!

Texas Chews are a chewy bar cookie made with pecans and brown sugar that gives them a butterscotch-flavor

Number Of Ingredients 9

1⁄2 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1⁄2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans or peanuts
Optional: 1 cup coconut flakes

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350ΒΊ F.
  • Combine all ingredients and pat into greased 9 x 13" pan.
  • Bake 25-30 minutes.
  • Cool 5 minutes in pan. Cut into bars while still warm, but allow to cool completely before trying to remove from the pan.
