This recipe came from a barbecue meatball recipe I have used for years. It makes a good barbecue sauce for anything. I keep a squeeze bottle in the refrigerator for dipping.

2 cups ketchup
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 teaspoons liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Combine ketchup, brown sugar, liquid smoke and garlic powder in a bowl.
  • Let sit for a few minutes, stirring occasionally so the sugar dissolves.
  • Use right away or store covered in the refrigerator.

1 ½ cups ketchup
1 ½ cups brown sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp molasses
1 ½ Tbsp dry mustard
1 Tbsp paprika
1/2 Tbsp salt
1/2 tsp onion powder
½ Tbsp black pepper
2 dashes hot sauce

Steps:

  • In a sauce pan combine all of the ingredients until well blended.
  • Cook over low heat to marry all of the flavors together. About 20 -30 minutes. This step can be optional, but it does help to develop the sauce.
  • Give your sauce a taste. You may choose to add a little more vinegar or seasonings depending on your personal taste.
