5 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 cup sour cream
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
3 tablespoons butter, divided
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Place potatoes in a Dutch oven; cover with water. Cover and bring to a boil. Cook until very tender, 20-25 minutes; drain well., In a large bowl, mash potatoes. Add the sour cream, cream cheese, 2 tablespoons butter, salt, onion salt and pepper; beat until fluffy. , Transfer to a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Dot with the remaining butter. Bake, uncovered, at 350° until heated through, 20-25 minutes.

Number Of Ingredients 7

5 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 cup sour cream
6 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 tablespoons butter, divided
1 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup frenches fried onions

Steps:

  • Place potatoes in a Dutch oven and cover with water.
  • Cover and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer 20-25 minutes until potatoes are very tender.
  • Drain well.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mash potatoes.
  • Add sour cream, cream cheese, 3 tablespoons butter, onion salt and pepper; beat until nice and fluffy.
  • Transfer to a greased 2-qt. baking dish.
  • Dot with remaining butter and bake uncovered in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from oven; sprinkle with the Frenches fried onion then return to oven.
  • Bake an additional 5 minutes.
