During the winter, I keep plenty of this mix on hand. That way, I can whip up steaming mugs of hot cocoa as soon as the kids come in from playing outside.

Yield 8 servings (2-2/3 cups mix), 1/3 cup per serving.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups nonfat dry milk powder
1/2 cup low-fat powdered nondairy creamer
1/2 cup baking cocoa
10 packets Equal or 1 tablespoon Equal Measure
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Combine all of the ingredients. Store in an airtight container. For each serving, add 3/4 cup boiling water to 1/3 cup cocoa mix; stir to dissolve.

This is for those of us who use Splenda by the packet instead of granular. Try using coffee instead of water for a great mocha treat! Thanks to Toni's suggestion, I added 3 packets of Splenda to the original recipe of 24 packets.

1 cup powdered fat free non-dairy coffee creamer
2 cups nonfat dry milk powder

  • Combine all ingredients (sift for a finer mix).
  • Store in an airtight container.
  • Add 1/4 cup mix and boiling water to a mug.
  • Stir to dissolve.

2 cups nonfat dry milk powder
1/2 cup fat-free powdered nondairy creamer
1/2 cup baking cocoa
Sugar substitute equivalent to 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 c nonfat dry milk powder
1/2 c fat-free powdered nondairy creamer
1/2 c baking cocoa
sugar substitute equivalent to 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • 1. In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients; mix well. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to six months. Yield: 2-3/4 cups (about 8 servings).
  • 2. To prepare hot cocoa: Dissolve 1/3 cup mix in 1 cup boiling water; stir well. Yield: 1 serving.
  • 3. Nutritional Analysis: One serving (1 cup prepared hot cocoa) equals 101 calories, 1 g fat (trace saturated fat), 3 mg cholesterol, 94 mg sodium, 17 g carbohydrate, 2 g fiber, 7 g protein. Diabetic Exchange: 1 fat-free milk.

10 packets Equal® or 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Equal®Measure or
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix together all ingredients until well blended.
  • To Use, add 1/3 c. of homemade cocoa mix in a coffee mug. Fill to the top with hot water and stir.
  • Per serving: 104 calories, 8 g protein, 7 g carbohydrate, 2 g fat
