These donuts are so easy to make and are delicious , you wouldn't know they are made from canned biscuits. I hope you can follow my instructions for these 4 different ways of making donuts...I know I confused my self but I think I got it right :) * cinnamon sugar ** lemon filled *** strawberry filled **** Boston Cream

1 can(s) 8 count biscuits texas style buttermilk ( not the flaky kind )
vegetable oil for frying
CINNAMON AND SUGAR : *
1 stick butter ; melted
1 c sugar mixed with cinnamon
FRUIT FILLED :
1 1/2 c lemon curd** or strawberry curd***
BOSTON CREAM : ****
1 sm. box instant french vanilla pudding
1 1/2 c milk
8 oz whipped topping
1 can(s) chocolate frosting
GLAZE :
1 c powdered sugar
1 Tbsp butter, room temperature
2-3 Tbsp milk

Steps:

  • 1. Pour oil about 1/2" deep in a cast iron skillet or any large skillet and heat on med-high heat for about 5 minutes. DO NOT LEAVE OIL UNATTENDED.
  • 2. To test the oil, use handle of wooden spoon dipped in oil..if it bubbles around it, oil is hot enough. or I put a doughnut hole in it. It should sizzle and bubble around the edges and then you know its hot enough.
  • 3. To prepare biscuits for frying : Take out of Pkg. and place on a baking sheet while the oil is heating up.
  • 4. * If for the cut out donut ; use a lid from a water bottle and push through center to make a donut shape ; keep the donut holes and fry them also. Once fried : dip donut in butter then in the cinnamon & sugar mix.
  • 5. CAREFULLY Place Donuts ( 2 - 3 @ a time )in oil and cook until golden brown and using clasps GENTLY flip over ; once golden brown on both sides remove and place on paper towels to absorb any left over oil.
  • 6. Dip filled donuts in the prepared glaze or chocolate and put on a wire rack.
  • 7. For the glaze mix ingredients together until smooth.
  • 8. **** For the pudding : Blend pudding and milk together with a electric mixer , blend Well ; Fold in the whipped cream and mix up completely.
  • 9. Heat the frosting in the micro for about 30 sec. to melt it to a glaze consistency. Dip cream filled donuts in choc. and set on rack.

½ cup white sugar
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough
3 tablespoons melted butter

Steps:

  • Toss together the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, set aside. Cut each biscuit into thirds, and roll into balls. Skewer on a toasting fork, and cook over hot coals, turning constantly, until golden brown. Dip into melted butter, then roll in cinnamon sugar.

Since I was young, my mother made these for us and when I married, my daughters always wanted these also. Now my grandchildren look forward to making them, helping to cut the holes and dipping them in the sugar. It is delicious served warm.

8 oz can buttermilk biscuits
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 c cooking oil

Steps:

  • 1. Heat cooking oil in a small skillet
  • 2. In a shallow dish, mix sugar and cinnamon well.
  • 3. Seperate biscuits and cut 1" hole in the center with a cookie cutter (we use a water bottle lid). Save cut out holes for cooking
  • 4. Drop 3 or 4 biscuits into hot oil and cook until golden brown. Flip them over and cook opposite side. Do the same thing with the holes.
  • 5. Remove from oil and dredge in the sugar mixture and put on a seperate plate to cool.
  • 6. Note: You could also coat with powdered sugar.
