Shaping the dough directly on the baking sheet makes short work of homemade biscuits. Serve these biscuits warm with butter.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
5 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
3/4 cup buttermilk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 425 degrees. Combine flour, salt, sugar, baking soda, and powder in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse once or twice to combine. Add butter, and process until dough looks like coarse oatmeal. Add buttermilk, and process a few seconds more, until dough just comes together.
  • Turn out dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, and pat into a 7-inch circle about 1 inch thick. Using a sharp knife, cut into 8 wedges, but do not separate.
  • Bake biscuits until golden brown on top and firm, about 20 to 25 minutes. Serve warm with butter.

Soda water biscuits have a moist, yet more crumbly texture than regular biscuits. The butter on the bottom or top of the biscuits can be added more sparingly if you are worried about fat content/calories.. u can also pare down a bit on them by using low fat or fat free sour cream instead of regular. Enjoy!

4 c bisquick or comparable baking mix *see my recipe for baking mix :)
1 c sour cream
1 c soda water (seltzer water or club soda)
1/2 c melted butter, divided

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat over to 425 degrees and pour 1/2 of the melted butter into the bottom of a glass or metal baking pan
  • 2. In large bowl, blend baking mix, sour cream and seltzer.
  • 3. Shape into biscuit form and place into buttered baking pan. Brush remainder of melted butter over top of biscuits.
  • 4. Bake at 425 degrees for 13-18 mins or until golden brown .. Enjoy!

  • Mix 2 cups flour, 2 teaspoons sugar and 3/4 teaspoon each baking soda and kosher salt in a bowl. Work in 2 tablespoons diced cold butter by hand. Add 1/2 cup raisins and 1 tablespoon caraway seeds. Mix in 3/4 cup buttermilk. Pat out the dough until 1 inch thick; cut into four to six 2 1/2-inch rounds. Bake at 375 degrees F, 15 to 20 minutes.

My brother is a good cook but claims he can't make biscuits.He made this recipe and it was wonderful!!. I found the recipe under a copycat recipe for Popeye's biscuits(I think they're better than Popeye's!

4 cups Bisquick
4 ounces sour cream
1 cup club soda
1/2 cup butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Mix bisquick,sour cream and club soda together.
  • Pour onto floured surface and knead very lightly.Rol out to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut with cutter.
  • Melt butter and pour half into a glass casserole dish.place biscuits in dish and pour remaining butter over top of biscuits.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
