Fresh Asparagus that is grilled gives you char marks and a smoky flavor that is amazing! Within minutes you have tender asparagus coated in parmesan and garlic that will become a family favorite!

1 pound fresh asparagus
2 Tablespoons olive oil
3 Tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
2 Garlic Cloves (minced)
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Prepare asparagus and trim the bottoms.
  • Lay the asparagus in the pan and sprinkle with salt and pepper and toss in the olive oil.
  • Lay the asparagus on the grill or grill plate in a row. Grill for 5-10 minutes over medium high heat until they have char marks and are fork tender. Remove asparagus and place back in the pan. Toss with garlic and parmesan cheese. Serve.
  • *You can also grill the asparagus in foil if desired.

One of the fastest sides you can make, grilled asparagus pairs beautifully with nearly any dish.

1 pound asparagus
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the grill to medium heat to 350°-400°F. Clean and oil grill grates.
  • Trim the woody ends off the asparagus. Place the asparagus spears on a platter or baking sheet. Drizzle with the olive oil, and toss the spears to coat. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, and toss again to coat evenly.
  • Place the asparagus perpendicular on the grill. Grill on high heat for 6 to 10 minutes or until the spears are tender and nicely marked. After 3 to 4 minutes, use tongs to roll the spears.
  • Transfer to a platter, and garnish with desired toppings. Serve warm or at room temperature.

SIMPLE SMOKED ASPARAGUS

A simple vegetable side dish to pair with your meat while you already have the smoker fired up. I've tried several different flavor combos but have found that olive oil, salt, and pepper work best with asparagus. Serve with lemon wedges if desired.

Steps:

  • Preheat the smoker to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Add wood chips according to manufacturer's directions.
  • Place asparagus inside a disposable foil pan. Drizzle oil, salt, and pepper over the top. Toss to coat.
  • Place the pan on the smoker rack and smoke for 30 minutes.

1/2 cup good quality mayonnaise
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 tablespoon sweet smoked paprika
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon cumin seed
1 lb thick asparagus, stalks peeled

Steps:

  • Light a grill.
  • In a shallow dish, whisk the mayo with the oil, lemon juice, garlic, paprika, salt and cumin. Add the asparagus and toss. Let stand for 30 minutes.
  • Grill the asparagus over moderately high heat, turning, until tender and blistered in spots, about 6 minutes.
  • Serve warm.
